Dubs had a poor first half but were much improved for the second half. We won't lose too much sleep about losing to Meath in January..although it's such a rarity these days I had forgotten what it feels like ;-) bubba83 (Dublin) - Posts: 333 - 28/01/2010 09:08:49 544496 Link 0 |

It was a win, nothing else. Great excitement at times thou. Wasn't the strongest Dublin team ever. Big Joe was a major loss when he went off. He seems to be the leader in my opinion at present. So far this year his ability to link with Queeney is a bit like Geraghty and Murphy of old. Although Peader seems to be captain at present and I don't know if this is a permanent appointment, he dosen't seem to have that aura you need in a captain. Alot of slating of McKeigue and Ward after last sunday but in fairness to the 2 guys performed pretty well last night. I like what I've seen from Dalton so far and although Brogan scored 1-3 from play, Dalton showed admirable ability. Lewis looks a livewire and although he was easily dispossed at times he could be a prospect for the future. Training/playing at intercounty level will bring him on. Two teams hardly recognisable from last year's selection - although if both are to improve they will be hoping that some of these new faces will turn out to be the real thing. The star performer for Dublin was Bernard Brogan, with Fennell dominant at midfield. Liked Lewis for Meath and Queeney again. Meath badly need Brendan Murphy fit again, that's for sure. Seal please tell me, (with your less than a third of Dublins All Irelands and not even half of Dublin's Leinsters) what makes Meath more of a GAA county than Dublin......... Liamwalkinstown (Dublin) - Posts: 8170 - 28/01/2010 11:22:26 544618 Link 0 |

Yes always nice to beat Dublin but like most level headed supporter I wouldn't be reading too much in to the result. Sure in our heydays under Boylan Meath knew when the real business of the season was. Thought Dublin were very poor in the first half - their kicking esp was crazy - balls ballooned aimlessly in to the sky and no one supporting the man in possession. In fact if Meath had of being more clinical and some players less greedy, the would have gone in 10pts+ up at half time such was the difference. Still though credit to both teams, they delivered another absorbing clash to whet the appetite for the rest of the season. Laytown Legend (None) - Posts: 424 - 28/01/2010 13:52:26 544833 Link 0 |
