cant really agree about mcenroe been the greatest ever, while he won 7 majors he never won the french or aussie open, for me to be classed as an all time great you have to prove yourself on all surfaces.

I don't think McEnroe even entered Australia as it did not become big again until after his time.

I think only Agassi and Federer won on all surfaces, and Federer due to Nadal's injuries. The others were all played on grass at one time, apart from the French.

I al;so think you cannot use the number of slams as a guide. Many say Pancho Gonzales was the greatest, and he never won a slam, as we had amateurs and professionals. Roy Emerson is 3rd in the number of slams, but hardly an all time great.

Many, like Borg and McEnroe, never played in Australia.

But on that day in 84 against Connors he looked unbeatable.

He beat Lewis in 83.

mcenroe was the greatest touch player ever without a doubt another great touch player fram the 70s was ille nastase beaten in a classic wimbledon final by stan smith in 72 i think it was, nastase won alot of titles but only 2 slams. borg also beat him in 76 to calim his first wimbledon but nastase was well past his sell by date by then. contrast him to becker who was mainly all power but won 3 wimbledons but had nowhere near the feel for a tennis ball as the likes of mcenroe or nastase,
