Mick38,

We won the Inter C'ship in 2006 & 2008 but didn't top the league and we are still at inter. We are top of the league at the moment (mostly cause of walkovers) a loss to Finbars with a seriously week team out could cost us the league again. We will prob have to beat JM's twice to win it now.

I think it might of been last year that the rule was in place for the first time but i believe Bredans (they fininished runners up but John Mitchels were already at Senior) asked to stay Intermediate as they didn't feel they were strong enough to compete at Senior. I am not completely sure that St Barnabas were promoted on their league win or on a request, as i said it would be worth getting someone in your club to look into it.
I also think that if you didn't manage to win the league or championchip if you requested promotion to Senior grade i do not think the county board would turn you down. I see no benefit of you being at Intermediate grade when the club and the players want to be playing Senior. I think the other Senior clubs would also benefit from having more games.

Burdo,

I would have thought that a club which has won the intermediate championship twice in 3 years would be granted senior status and I cannot understand why your club has not requested to go up to Senior before. If you feel your club is strong enough for senior they will let you up, and in all fairness to Brendans, Finbarrs and leicester who opted to stay at intermediate they have proven that they made truthful statements as none of them have been tearing trees up at intermediate level since.

The only worrying aspect for ye is the fact that you have only played 3 games this year, you are all mad to play football but no one will play you, but in only your second game of the year you can only field a weak team (same as everyone else most of the time) and are beaten, dread to think what would happen to you in senior!!

Question for EGB people. What happened to you this year?
We played you twice at the start of the year are you lads where looking good.
Was there a bust up? Have you lost faith in your new manager?? Or are Barnabass and Mac that good??
Dont worry lads, we will turn Macs over in the semis and beat Barnabass in the final!!

You'll get annihilated at senior Burdo, even Masters would beat you handily. Be much better at Intermediate where you'll at least be competitive. Agree action does need to be taken against teams who dont field regularly

Just seen the GAA transfers has been updated to the 22nd July, still no sign of Mulligans transfer to Macs.

I knew you would eventually slip up, every John Michells man knows for the last two weeks we are playing St Barnabas in the semi final.
Your constant wind up brings an old saying to mind:
The cuckoo comes in April, it sings its song in May, In June it changes its tune and in July it flies away,
So whichever club owns this cuckoo he is now reared and ready to fly, please take him home and put a muzzle on him for a couple of months, give us some peace.

The Michells V Four Masters game in Pnh tommorrow is off. Four Masters unable to field a team.

Michells have been awarded the points. The championship semifinal is fixed for next Sunday so its not possible to play within seven days.
We would have preferred the game and even concede the points, we are too far behind to make an impression in the league, bu needed the game.

four masters season has been a bad one , i know they lost some lads who went travelling etc , but still thought that they would fair reasonably well in the league, lts been a while now since a senior club has been unable to field a team, not much good to mitchels with no game for a few weeks going into the senior semi final , any predictions on todays game between macs & go bragh ? , it could be tasty with go bragh still chasing the league title , or will Mac's be bothered with this fixture , they just seem to be interested in the championship?

macs V egb I expect to go down to the wire, as egb still have a chance to win the league, macs will use this game to bed in their new players should be interesting.
I expect egb to just about shade it, if they can turn some of their possession into scores and keep tabs on chris hayden who won the last game for macs.

It all depends which players are there for either team, normally EGB dont field as strongly post championship, whereas Macs seem to get stronger as the season progresses.

On another note, still no sign of Mulligans transfer

Knowle, lets get things right. A number of teams have asked in the past to rearrange fixtures, because they are made at such short notice. And these requests are granted without problem. Indeed, last year when we were flying we re arranged fixtures because one or two of our better players were missing and there were no questions asked.#
However this year because we are struggling a bit, because we ask to rearrange a game there is a big drama, and people are on here saying its been a while since a senior team has failed to field. Well its not really - Its been a while since a senior team has been unable to come to an arrangement i would say.
I remember Casements v Mitchells last year in the league did not go ahead when it should, and the Fr Forde game between Macs and EGB went ahead at the 4th attempt because the clubs were unable to get teams for certain weekends.
Don't come on here and try and kick a club when they are down.
We may have been able to put out 15 players, but it would have served no purpose. We only had 2 senior players available. JJ Harkin and Langford
It is well Known we lost players at the start of the year. a number of other lads have been out with long term injuries. Last weeks championship game saw 4 other players pick up injuries that will keep them out for weeks including Dec Harkin who has carried the team on his own much of the year and on top of that 4 lads are on holiday this weekend. So when we found out monday we were due to Play Mitchells this weekend, you might underatand why we seeked to rearrange the fixture.

just in case anyone thinks that Michells were the reason for this game not being played, we would be prepared to play this game any time, mon or tuesday this week
or any day after next sun if they refix it.
We were simply informed by the fix sec. of what was happening.
we are the same as everyone else we want and need games this week.

Sorry Millbrook, my post was not intended to suggest that Mitchells have been un co operative in re arranging the game. And i can understand your frustration with a big game coming up. But as i said before if the game had have gone ahead it would have done you little good. I'm sure our club officials will be in touch with yourselves or the board but imagaine we will be in the same boat for the next few weeks.

good win for RC. Barnabas have lost 2 in a row now, they have stuffed what little chance they had of doing anything in the champ. They will probably go on the beer and drink the head off it now. Expect a good solid win for mitchels next week. Also, good result for EGB.
