EGB are not out of the c`ship yet, need to beat Macs by 9 points on sunday to go through. Three good wins for Macs over the weekend with the juniors beating EGB in a very good game on saturday evening by 2-8 to 13 pts, then Macs women beat RC by 2-14 to 1-3, then their seniors opened their defence of the c`ship with a 1 point win over Barnabus in very physical and entertaining game. moonshine (UK) - Posts: 297 - 12/07/2010 10:06:32 704546 Link 0 |
Great victory for Macs in Nottingham yesterday , they are sure favourites to retain their title , cant really see anybody to challange them , although Barnabas nearly had them , i think macs have plenty left in the tank. knowle (Roscommon) - Posts: 82 - 12/07/2010 10:46:21 704636 Link 0 |

moonshine how do you figure? currently Barnabas are top on points difference with +7. Macs are +1 and EGB are -8. so if EGB beat Macs by 5 that willl leave them -3 with Macs on -4. that would send Barnabas and EGB through. unlikely outcome you might say but thats the state of play i believe. andquick (UK) - Posts: 60 - 12/07/2010 11:16:39 704717 Link 0 |
Andquick, I was just about to write that myself, but I think you're spot on. thesilentone (UK) - Posts: 146 - 12/07/2010 11:22:31 704733 Link 0 |
Im pretty sure Macs wont be underestimating EGB next week. On their day, they are capable of beating anyone in Warwickshire so the result is definitely not a foregone conclusion. Never made it to Notts yesterday, but that is a massive win for Macs. Lethal (Derry) - Posts: 281 - 12/07/2010 12:05:02 704836 Link 0 |
No, the ref seemed both deaf and oblivious to anything going on around him. People on the sideline shouting to him & even players going up to him telling him to turn around, so by the time he did there would be about 10 or more people involved. The game was a bit stop start but a good win for Macs as they were lucky Barnabas didn't put more balls over the bar. Macs will step it up another gear now. Must be a bad day for ref's all round- the man in the middle at the Leinster final was attacked by Louth fans at full time for a abysmal decision in the last minute of overtime!!! Shocking stuff uwic (UK) - Posts: 64 - 12/07/2010 12:20:59 704878 Link 0 |
Mitchels beat Masters 2-19 to 0-9, Mitchels were always in control but 1-8 of they're points were tagged in the last 10 minutes. Masters missing quite a few of this years panel even Hman (Donegal) - Posts: 111 - 12/07/2010 12:35:14 704898 Link 0 |
andquick, i stand corrected got my calculations wrong. As i said in an earlier post about Barnabus we wouldnt be underestimating them and we were given our toughtest game this year, and we except the same from EGB this weekend. Any other fixtures for PNH this weekend ??? moonshine (UK) - Posts: 297 - 12/07/2010 14:44:50 705322 Link 0 |

just wondering where all these Barnabus lads have gone. After beating McDermotts in the league earlier in the season rakes of them on here letting everyone know about it, very quite today though. mayoallstar (Mayo) - Posts: 259 - 12/07/2010 17:12:26 705756 Link 0 |
Mayoallstar im not sticking up for barnabus here but after they beat Macs in the league they did not come on here and say anything they had the brains to know it was only the league and that they would face a different team come championship time... the strange thing is the whole county and myself included were writing barnabas of this year as relegation contenders but they have really suprised me, who would of thought they would get within 2 minutes of beating macs in championship and also be sitting top of league at this stage, not me for one... was at the game on sunday between them an macs as i knew we would beat masters and would either face one of these 2, it was a interesting battle on and off the field... hard hitting fast and furious championship football with both teams giving everything to win...the way macs celebrated at the end was was a indication on how hard they found it to overcome barnabas and it was a sense of relief to have won...i have no doubt macs will be in final now as they probably will hammer erin go bragh and face casements in semi.... leaving us and barnabas in the other semi in a interesting game...i think we should have enough in tank to beat them but will be a close encounter... I think your getting ahead of you self Lyster. The standings in the other group are not a fore gone conclusion, although i would not expect EGB to qualify now. However a narrow victory by them would mean you may end up playing Macs next. gael2000 (Mayo) - Posts: 81 - 13/07/2010 12:12:31 706681 Link 0 |
Not sure what conclusions people are drawing from the 'group of death' but in terms of qualification the state of play is that Barnabas are now guaranteed to go through whatever the outcome of the match next week as they are on +7 points difference which when compared to Macs +1 and EGB -8 effectively counts for another point with them two having to play each other. The scenarios as I see it are: andquick (UK) - Posts: 60 - 13/07/2010 13:40:49 706896 Link 0 |
JM were nothing special Sunday. A crippled Masters team was holding them by 2-3 pts and had plently of goal scoring opportunities not taken. HowstheHorse (UK) - Posts: 81 - 13/07/2010 13:58:17 706948 Link 0 |
Micheal-Lyster, i am beginning to think that you are a Barnabus man really, first and foremost if you were a JM man as you claim to be you would be watching your club irrespective of who you were playing because you cannot take any game for granted in c`ship football. And you have been on here before with an awful lot of praise for Barnabus before. You may well be an EGB man this week looking for them to beat Macs moonshine (UK) - Posts: 297 - 13/07/2010 17:37:52 707560 Link 0 |
first and foremost moonshine im not afraid to admit where im from as i said before...im a mitchells man and proud to be one... my reason for going to the game was to see 2 of the teams we may be playing in semi, i will also be in birmingham sunday to watch erin go bragh v macs...now i know what your saying about championship football but we were as good as through and i was asked to go watch potential opponents...with Mike Kellegher flying for us at minute we dont fear anything or anybody and come 2nd week in september i know we will be their and can beat use like we did earlier in year!!! Micheal-Lyster, what position is it that you hold within the JM set up that you were asked to go and watch potential opponents for your semi-final clash, you must be up there with senior management. As regards your win against us in the league, fair play to you as i have already said. You can put that along with your other two victorys you have against in the last 15 years, yes that is all you have managed against Macs in that time, a pretty poor record i would say for such a great club. moonshine (UK) - Posts: 297 - 14/07/2010 18:51:18 709318 Link 0 |
