Breffni39,

Yes a good call by Mancirish with his 3 - 0 prediction and his 1st goal scorer, pity i did not see it in time. I didn't even know there was a game on that day !!
I think 32_4_1 still leads though as he also predicted the trend of the game, which i watched. I will await further accurate predictions before i award the trophy !!

Well done themaster its no surprise with yourself you know a good thing my friend. Not many Moyo men miss a trick that is for sure. Lets hope it comes in, i agree he should be a mile ahead but you never know with the dodgy South American Voting and all. It will be a travesty if he doesn't get it on current form.

Rooney actually played very poorly in the CC final. Two great headers. Scored one and was unlukcy with other.

Mancirish,

How is this award decided, is the players who pick or the newspapers ?

the world player of the year is normally decided by how a player performs at the latter stages of the champions league and the world cup every 4 years. if rooney doesnt do it there his current form is all for nothing in regards to world player of the year. he's played consistently excellent for about the last 2 months. for the first half of the season messi was the best player in the world, but that also seems to have been forgotten about. so will rooney current form if he doesnt do it on the biggest stages of all this year

The coach and captain of every national team gets to vote for their top 3 players of the year.

Rooney when played in the correct position this season, supplied by two adequate wing men Valencia/Nani has been brilliant. I always knew a good woman and a bb would sort young Wayne out.

If you are interested I see that Milan are now 100/1 :-)

Now you all know I rate Rooney.

However, did you see him when he stepped up a level against Egypt?

Let us hope it was an aberration on the night. It is a long time since 2004 but he really did look as though he had it internationally as well.

Also, do not forget that he who scores 50 goals in England may only be mediocre in Spain. There is form to indicate this.

However, unlike Man United fans who constantly derided me, I ALWAYS thought he was better than Ronaldo, who MIGHT be in the world top twenty.

At the moment, if we look at Europe and internationals, bar Egypt, Rooney is certainly in the top half a dozen.

Come on Pat you'll have to get better bait than that. The boy was on Fire yet again last night. I'm beginning to run out of words for him, can we give him the trophy now. If it was boxing the ref would have stopped it long ago by a mile the best in the world at the moment......

It could well end up in Manchester.

We know that World Player of the year will come from the World champs, that's how these trinkets are decided.

So....good chance it could be Robinho or even Tevez.

That sounds like nonsense, but alas, we ALL know that it is the truth.

Unless you see England winning the World Cup?

Now for about three years I have been saying that Wayne Rooney is/was the best talent at Old Trafford.

Now if I could see that what was whoever manages man United doing?

How could he not see the waste playing Rooney as a work horse, "water carrier" for Ronaldo?

Or am I more enlightened than most?
