a mixture of rooney, carrick and scholes breffini. so by stating he got 42 goals thats supposed to prove something? is that not what strikers do. forlan got 33 goals in 32 appearances so by your logic he was the brains of the team even though playmaker simao was there. where did ronaldo dissappear to yesterday when he didnt score? or any game he doesnt score for that matter. everyone watched el classice so where was he then. what about last years champions league final. when he doesnt score he's anonymous

Rooney is the best striker in te world at the minute and not one player comes close to him even his work off the ball is brilliant.

Yeah I agree... he has really worked on his cowardly stamping when he doesnt have the ball.

Rooney is a s*** bag. Pure and simple...

There's some fishing going on here boy's the ABU's are running scared of the legend which is Wayne Rooney. Lads just enjoy his many talents, he is a joy to watch at present and long may it continue.

I for one will be hoping he has a great world cup, but i wont be out in the pubs over here watching it. I don't mind the team doing well, its the fans. So many s who are very bigoted and often very sad to watch. The English papers/press are also a worry, they don't have a middle ground its either your the best ever or the worst ever. If it all goes wrong they some how find a way of blaming a United player and the whole world hates MUFC all over again. So it will probably be Rooney hero or villain we shall have to wait and see.

United were not at there best last night and still managed to easily out shine Milan. Both teams were giving the ball away very cheaply but i think we have done enough to see us through. BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!

So then where was all your gushing praise for Carrick, Scholes and Rooney that year then? They created all those goals for Ronaldo in a team that won almost everything available to them. Is it because they are not Argentinian, Barzilian or Spanish or what?

Stop talking irrelevant rubbish about Forlan and Simao and nonsense about individual games where player x is anonymous, as if player y has never had a bad game.

Basically, grow the **** up and start listening to people who know what they are talking about and stop letting crazy grudges cloud your extremist views. Football is a game to be enjoyed, try to remove all the hate you have for players/teams and then come back to us with your opinions when you are some way balanced in them.

Whatever anyone thinks of Rooney as a person, as a footballer he is superb. Best in the world? I don't care. I'm just glad he plays for United.

because i dont think it should take 3 players to do one job breffini. ronaldos anonymous when he doesnt score. i know it and you know it. he was non existent against lyon.

rooney is miles better liam. but i thought that would go without saying. your in no position to be complaining about people not answering your questions, since you mastered it

Jesus, more rubbish! Why do Barca have Xavi and Iniesta when all they need is Messi? At least make an effort to be reasonable!!!!

I didn't see the Lyon game so can't comment but "ronaldos anonymous when he doesnt score" is such an illogical thing to say. His team didn't score either. When Barca don't score I'm sure you could say Messi was anonymous, doesn't make it true though.

what position does paul scholes play? playmaker. what position was rooney dropping into last year when ronaldo was at united. look the same position as scholes from where i was watching.

nah messi's never anonymous. remember 08 v united. messi didnt score but put in a man of the match performance. messi beats about 4-5 players a few times every game. he gave about 4 killer balls to ibrahimovic v athletico madrid the last day.

higuain didnt soce v lyon either. but yet i noticed he was on the field. ronaldo doesnt have the dribbling ability to beat players. he is terrible at crosses. he has no vision so cant pick out defence splitting passes. he's in there to get goals and thats all he does. when he doesnt get them he's non existent. thats why its always said he doesnt preform on the big stage. when he doesnt score you wouldnt even know he's playing. dont argue just for the sake of it. watch madrid the next day. if he doesnt score, he'll be nowhere in sight

So where is all your praise for Scholes and Rooney?

Of course I remember 08, Messi's team lost and Ronaldo's team won, regardless of who was anonymous or not.

thats the point breffini. they lost but messi still turned up. at least the like of higuain v lyon tried to make something happen.

scholes is a great player. but i have yet to be on a thread where people were talking about him. but still, hardly in kaka's league. i've often praised rooney. but the arguements that arise here stems from mancirish stating he is the best player in the world. which i disagree with.

Wayne Rooney, from his first appearance with Everton, was always going to be a great talent, especially for an English player as they have had very, very, few world class players in the past 40 years or so.

But Ronney is intelligent (on the field), skilful, can score, pass, genuinely dribble by skill rather than speed, and can also head the ball, and tackle, and when required, work hard.

A seriously good player.

Anyone who cannot see this knows little about football oris seriously biased against England or man United.

Most players these days, are over rated by the media, including dozens of English players.

Rooney is not. He is the genuine article.

As IU have consistently said for 6 years, at Euro 2004 there was a young Man United player ready to become a world super player.

His name was Rooney, not Ronaldo.

As the years have gone on Rooney's stance on Moyes has become more understanding & he can now see why Moyes did certain things while Rooney was at Everton. I'm glad of that. I really think Moyes is a good manager, he needs to win a trophy to be a great manager but given that he spends very little his achievements have solidified Everton & if Everton ever got the backing other big clubs did who knows what they could achieve.

While Ferguson has instilled a work rate into all his players, Moyes has that same effort driven into all his Everton players. To get into Everton's side you need to work hard, if you don't you're out, exactly what football should be all about.

completely agree Slayer. Everton are a club i think people can feel genuinely proud to say they support. And reading a lot of Everton media/forums merseyside press etc, the "hatred" towards Rooney is certainly dissipating and he seems to be reciprocating it too to be fair. I think there is a good chance we will see him in blue again

I have been living in Australia now for sometime and the football commentators are very like 32. By continuously praising anything south american or continental they believe they are real intellectuals of the game and total experts. They were on the tele here the other day and one of them couldnt believe rooney made the top 10 in the world at the moment. It is a joke. They bring on past players then, that really do know the game, and they cant praise rooney enough. Take all the anti english game, anti utd, and what ever else closed mindedness is clouding your judgement out of it and accept Rooney for what he is , an outstanding footballer. One of the best around at the moment.
