seems like the same arguments over and over and over, different name to the thread just. im bored trying to get my head aroung people saying stuff like 'ronaldo isnt a good player' mind boggling. kaka has been a flop for 65 million yet people try to justify him because of his role in the team??
messi has 22 goals in 29 games rooney has the same in 30 games so better goal ratio is a bit of hair splitting the season isnt even over so that could change. as i said on another thread half a dozen players make up the elite, they are all fantastic, all have the odd bad game but none of them are bad footballers. trying to argue that one is bad to make another better is crazy

Rooney is English, and now takes his place with English legends of the game.

The last English legend to score 20 goals in a premiership season, and win World player of the year as the best player in the world, was Andy Johnson for Crystal Palace.

The way things are going history could repeat itself. Palace were relegated and went into receivership last week.

The master, i often ignore 32 because most of his posts are so wild that they are not worth a response. The Ronaldo comment on the thread is as usual crazy, so i just stopped reading the rest. When the lad starts making some sense then i may engage but until then...... Just to appease him on this occasion as he has mentioned me in his response to you, Rooney is not just a goal scorer as anyone with any reasonable football knowledge would acknowledge. What he has added to his game this year is that he has become even more prolific in that area. His passing, tackling, work effic, dribbling and general all round play were already world class. Hence my little joke about going in net, but as usual it went straight over his head. Rooney has got the full package even scoring goals with his head more this year also left or right foot.

As i have said before at least Pat's wind ups have half a grain of truth and he has got a reasonable knowledge on football. He is at least worth a bit of fun.

I hope a few of you have put a few quid on Rooney those odds will shorten after the World Cup, get in now lads.

Rooney lads is an all round footballer, rather than just a striker. He is picking the ball up in hois own half and creating goals, and sometimes being on the end of those moves.

As a poor striker...well he missed from one yard against City and half a yard against arsenal.....Linnekar would have scored those but couldn't attempt the other things rooney does.

Torres? Second best current Spanish striker.

comparing rooney and torres on goals to games over all is rubbish rooney has been playing in the premier league since 16 so he was very young to start and took a few years to really peak. torres was an established top class striker when he came to england so hit the groun running. he mite be the fastest to 50 goals for liverpool but gives you perspetive of him being the 'best in the world' when you take into account shearer cole and RVN beat him and as class as they were they were never the best in the world. torres is still class though but give me rooney any day

Torres is quality, but Rooney is another level. Again guys your back to goals, its the whole package with Rooney that puts him apart.

It would be some partnership though, its a shame we haven't the cash as i see Torres leaving Anfield soon. I'm sure the blues will be closely monitoring that one.

Another major problem with Torres is the injuries, its no good only having him for half a season.

Its Rooney all the way!!!!!

Just back from the game, the kid just can't stop scoring another top class performance from the ROO. Without doubt the best player in the world on current form!!!

Lots of green and gold scarfs at the game today, the momentum is definitely picking up in the campaign to oust Glazer.

Excellent all round performance from the team, Nani looking good again Evans back to his best, Carrick possibly MOM and Berbatov on the score sheet.

Just home about 1 hour ago from the match what a day and night oh the head hurts.
Started of in Plats then OT had the full works then ended up in O'Sheas'. The match itself
was very good never in danger at all. Utd are coming good at the right time can see Chelsea
bricking it they don't like pressure. It would be unfair to pick out any one player but the boy Rooney
is different class no matter what money City have they will never have a player like him eat your heart Patrique.

you wish. see messis beauty yesterday. see the vision where he picked out a defence splitting pass for ibrahimovic. see where he beat 4 men on the wing with ease. he's got it all. he can do things rooney can only dream of, also adding to the fact he has a more prolific goal rate from a deeper position than rooney, and is the greatest dribbler ever. messi will win world player of the year fo the next few years
