Fredrickwood, Yes Rooney is a great midfielder but i did not see last weeks game and don't know much about Fabrages either. What i will say is that i saw the big European final last year and what you say about Fabrages is the same as in that final with Rooney. He wasn't to be seen just like Ronaldo as Messi was by far the best player on view. Even in Gaelic a good midfielder won't play well every week. Rooney would not get the rave reviews from the media if he was Irish, Scottish or Welsh you can be sure !! He is above average though in the three games i saw him play this year on t.v. !!

549226 fredrick still can't accept that the midfielder who has scored the most goals and has the most assists in the premiership is the best midfielder, despite his own hero, Sir Alex Ferguson saying so
I have said it already but you are clearly choosing to ignore it.He is the best SO FAR this season,But the season is'nt over yet.Let's judge in May when he has achieved a bit more than just goals against Villa and Bolton and others outside the top 4.

549040 Fletcher did'nt play in that final. And Carrick and Anderson won the CL the year before beating Barca in the semi holding them scoreless over 2 legs, something a lot of posters on here seem to forget.
and i think you seem to forget barca were a mess going into that game. messi had been out injured for weeks and barca were in the middle of a run where they ended up going 9 games without scoring. but they still rose to the occassion while uniteds backs were against the wall. they needed a fluke to beat this barca team. had barca a forward to link with messi barca would have destroyed them. anderson and carrick were chasing shodows over those two legs aswell. that barca team was a shadow of they one united played in rome and united got a hammering. they were lucky it wasnt 10-0. the difference in quality between barca and united would be something similar to the difference in quality between united and rotherham. in 08 uniteds team cost millions more than barcas yet they were still afraid and unable to play barca in a real game of football
Can you answer me this 26_4_1, How did we fluke it against Barca in 08? Who did Barca not have?Eto'o played with Messi in 08 games same as he did in CL final 09.

That's great fredrick, glad that you agree with the original poster when he said "He is surely the best midfielder in the league at the moment".
You have still been wrong in a lot of what you have said, but I am tired of arguing with you, so yeah, let's leave it 'til the end of the season. If awards were being handed out at the moment though Rooney would be POTY of the year, with Fabregas probably second (ahead of any other midfielder).

yes thats right fred. that was the strongest barca team of all time. they only finished 3rd in the league behind villareal, and won only half their games finishing nearly 20 points behind a rubbish real madrid team. it was some team alright. yet they completely dominated uniteds strongest team in years

537087 The best midfielder in the premiership by some distance, especially now that he has added goals to his game. If Wenger can keep him fit Arsenal will go far in Europe and will be there or thereabouts at the end of the PL season. They may need to buy a striker before the window closes though...

537098 He will inevitably go missing when it matters most at the business end of the season.Like he does every year.
There are mine and your original posts on this thread Nocky.I have left out the Spain bit even though He was'nt first choice and only played the final because of Villa's injury.Funny how you did'nt mention all those inept players in that thread only "if fabregas can keep fit".In fairness you were spot on about the striker but the dog on the street knew that.I'll stand by my original post now and in May. I don't have to agree with Ferguson all the time you know.Would you agree with Mowbray all the time? We are all entitled to an opinion Nocky. I will finish by saying I wonder how popular Fabregas would be if he played for United or Liverpool or Rangers sister club Chelski? Methinks his popularity has a lot to do with playing for The Gunners.Nobody hates Arsenal I suppose. You have lads on here and other threads saying Ronaldo and Rooney cant "do it" on the big stage, yet 3PL titles in 3 years and 2CL finals in 2years winning one would suggest otherwise.Or maybe they were just "lucky". Bet Fabregas would love to be "lucky" every now and again.

They could'nt score in 180 minutes 26.That's a long time to be lucky.Messi had Eto'o alongside him for both games.Another argument you've lost.

they didnt score in 810 minuted fred. that season was one of the worst barca teams of the decade, while it was one of uniteds best. yet united (costing millions and millions more to assemble) were afraid to come out and play football. paul scholes fluke beat them.
eto'o will finish moves when things are going well for the team. he's not so great when when they're not. he lost all form that season. messi was playing united by himself.

How exactly is a shot from the edge of the area aimed for the top corner a fluke?

Hahahaha, that is all highly-biased opinion, not fact.
United beat Barca fair and square and deserved their victory, just like Barca did last year.
