fredrickwood a simple question who has the most goals for a midfielder in the league and who has the most assists in the entire league? l will give you a clue it is not lampard, essien, or gerrard. Anyone else think that fredrickwood is simply an anyone but arsenal?

Lads lads lads lads.I would like someone to point out where we decided we are only talking about this season all of a sudden.I know Gerrard gets injured,I SAID IT IN MY LAST POST FFS.I am also aware that Fabregas is having a good season again something I have mentioned before, and if Arsenal go on and win the League I fully expect the little fella to walk away with both PFA and Writers Player of the year. But lads, this is January. The next 5/6 weeks are goin to be crucial for all clubs,Arsenal in particular who havent been in a title race proper for a number of years.
Wait til May when the prizes are handed out before tellin me a player is this that and the other seein as yourselves decided it was this season we are discussin.Lampard and Essien have been there done the hard yards in recent years over the course of a season.Maybe it's because I am United that I am the only one who sees that it's the end of the season where you LOOK BACK and say well done to whoever topped the league and the players who done the business can be truly admired.
And nocky I never slagged anyone for getting injuries, have a good skim back over the posts you will see yourself.

He is surely the best midfielder in the league at the moment? You say you know Gerrard gets injured, but do you accept Essien also gets injured? He missed even more of the 2008-09 season than Fabregas did, with a similar injury. Do you accept that Lampard is prone to straining leg muscles every now and again? Also, Lampard and Essien play in a team of superstars, a team that cost hundreds of millions of pounds to assemble. They do not have the burden Fabregas has, they are surrounded by experienced, established players. Why is it fred, that you can't accept that Fabregas is, this season, the best midfielder in the premiership? Why do you prefer to hark back to the past when Fabregas was a teenager, just developing his game, and make sly comments about the only serious injury he suffered in his career to date? Owen Coyle, Bolton's new manager had this to say after watching Fabregas inspire Arsenal to defeat Bolton in his first match in charge : "He has everything in his locker. He has got pace and a level of composure, his finishing is of the highest standard, he has movement, anticipation, intelligence. So, to sum up, then yes he is the best in the Premier League."

nocky County: Wexford Posts: 1185 . But then he did play in every game at Euro 2008, and I have a feeling Spain did quite well at that. Remind me who scored the winning penalty against your beloved Italy again? Now I do not know much about football, and my knowledge of the Spanish language is limited. so I assume this line up for the game against Russia in Euro 2008 Spain: Iker Casillas, Joan Capdevila, Carlos Marchena, Carles Puyol, Sergio Ramos, David Silva, Marcos Senna, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, David Villa, Fernando Torres Could I ask which one is Spanish for Fabregas. Is is Xavi, or Silva, or maybe Iniesta? Oh sorry, someone has just told me that Fabregas did not start until Villa got injured and the manager rearranged the team. So a reserve for Spain. Not bad, but hardly earth shattering.

Not sure if that's the group game lineup or the semifinal lineup patrique, but in group game Fabregas scored a goal and set up another. If it's the semifinal, he set up 2 goals. It's pretty hard to score goals or even set them up from sitting on the bench, so I think he may have played in those games. And remind me who scored the winning penalty against the Mighty Italy in the quarter final again patrique, his name escapes me. F-, Fa-, Fab-, Fabreg-…?

But Euro2008 is a year and a half ago, Fabregas is older now, and an even better player. He has started 7 of Spain's last 10 games, not bad for a "reserve".

Fabregas is a reasonable player, no-one denies that.

Might be in the top 5 Spanish mid fielders at the moment.

All i am saying is heed Arsene Wenger who yesterday said "The problem in England (and the rest of these islands) is that the sensitivity of one media (SKY) dictates what the whole country has to think".

In short the Sky league will ne hyped by Sky media, burt remember the like of Cantona, Henry and Ronaldo who looked wonderful in England, but not so good at a higher level.

Just a cautionary tale.

Bolton and Villa???Is that goin to be a measure of a great player?ANS-No.
The Next few weeks when Arsenal face United,Chelsea and Liverpool will be the acid test for the Gunners,This season. If he does the business I will be the first man on here to say well done.I really don't know where your goin with these injury arguments,Of course all players get injured just some more than others.

Oh and by the way Nocky I am not referring to Fabregas in his earlier years I am referring to the last 2/3 years,For example why don't you tell me How fantastic he played against United in the CL semi-final last year and How he dictated the 2legs home and away......

I think the general consensus is that Fabregas is an amazing talent, and at 22 is only getting better. Definately the best midfielder in the Prem(and possibly the world) at the moment. Alex Songs performances in the holding role have really brought the best out of him.

Went missing today against Stoke, yes thats right Stoke. The best in the prem, i don't think so?

so what. he's supposed to get man of the match every game is he. rooneys got on a good scoring run for the first time in 7 years and now he's the best in the world for scoring a few goals against a rubbish team.

32_4_1 rooney isnt even mentioned on this thread, your obsession with forcing spanish football and people who play in/are from spain down everyones throats is sickening at times. cesc is world class no doubt, as is rooney though why you bring him up here in beyond me

Lads, don't run 32_4_1, he was the only one to correctly fprecast the result and performances in the big europe cup final last year when Rooney and Ronaldo went missing. He was also right about Messi being the best in that game too. Big players do well on big occasions and don't disappear like the two named above !!

I would'nt be rushing to have a go at Fabregas on today's performance.Arsenal had a largely 2nd string side out and I don't think Wenger will be too fussed about the loss. The acid test for the Gunners and Fabregas will be the matches against Villa,United,Chelsea and Liverpool over a 14 day period followed by the CL games against Porto.
Oh and slasher your wrong to say that Rooney and Ronaldo went missing on the big stage when they both won 3league titles in a row and contested 2 CL finals winning 1 in the past 3years.I think it's fair to say that's proving youself on the big-stage.

e when they both won 3league titles in a row

I remember Rangers and Celtic winning NINE in a row.

They must have been SUPER teams, the best ever of all time in the history of all football in the entire universe.

Unless they were playing in a useless league as well.

Rangers and Celtic DO play in a useless league.Well done.United on the other hand play in the most popular league in the world.

Makes you think though, does'nt it?Why do all those people worldwide persist in watching a boring and predicatable league. Why do TV stations all over the globe pay millions to broadcast it? Answers on a postcard only to Mr.McGinley knowitall street, Andersontown, Belfast.

Popular.

Now we have it. Could I suggest that in the "music" field people like "Girl's Alive", "Boys Own" and Robbie Williams are popular.

Musically they would be well behind talent like Mozart, Beethoven and John Williams.

So why didn't you just say "yes, United do play in a useless league"

mancirish you are hardly saying fabregas went missing just because arsenal lost to stoke. i mean lets talk facts arsenal were facing a premier league outfit away from home with a largely second string side out. united lost to leeds (a league one outfit) at home with rooney their best player playing. No one tried to say rooney went missing against leeds. Even brilliant players can not win every game.

finally. your seeing the light. in your estimate its now gone from the best in the world to the most popular. so, i can now only assume your implying the spanish is the best. but we already knew that
