A win is a win I suppose, who's up next?

Kildare are next on Suday away from home... We'll have to wait to see if croke park hand them out any suspensions following the 7 red cards in the Loaise game today!

Kildare, especially away from home, is just the test we need. They are very much in form and will be looking at a place in the last 4 this summer, at least.

I don't expect us to win so whatever we can learn from this will stand to us and future progress.

Poor game, first half took out, some of those players are not up to it. O'neill and Smith being the main two !

i have to agree with MR for once. I had little expectation going to the match, but what transpired was well below par. IMP the panel is not the 30 best players in louth. For example many of the youngsters on the team will not even start for the under 21 set up. Also i feel O'Neill is well past his hay day--------Finding a partner for Paddy Keenan in midfield has long been a problem. However, i feel the answer lies with David Devenny. I'd like to see him at least giving an oppertunity.

agree with you alright. Devenney was good for the juniors last year. Wass he not tried before though with the seniors same as o'neill. What about young Brennan from Cooley. I thought he was very impressive for the Juniors last year. He kind of reminded me of a Ronan Carroll when he was minor.

Different story against Kildare next week. Win against Wexford MUST be an absolute priority.

I agree with afaced. a lot of the panel not up to and O Neill is not for sure. David Devanny is not the answer either not abad player but he is the wrong side of thirty and Brian White done all right in the middle last year. One young lad from the Glyde who might be worth a look at if he is not injured would be Brian Duffy.Still its early days and if someone does well at club level am sure Fitzer will have a look

Sounds like a poor enough performance, different from the Wicklow game. How did Hoey play at half back and Byrne at the back? No Fanning on at all? What went wrong? Is Fitzer building a team around Hoey? What was Carroll like when he came on?
Thought we would walk this one and went to the Meath V Dublin game for laughs. Did indeed get some. Dublin were useless and unless they put out a first team on Wednesday, Meath will put them out of their misery...they still have the headless chickens mentality seen so beautifully last year.

First half was as bad as it gets. Aaron Hoey had a good game overall which was capped off with a nice point in the second half. Declan Byrne once again didn't play well in the no.2 position. Brian White, JP Rooney Seàn Ò'Neill, Pepe Smyth, John O Brien, and Ray Finnegan all had a bad day at the office. Andy McDonnell tried hard,Colm/ Colin Judge played middling as did Ronan Greene and Dessie Finnegan. Derek Crilly played well in the second half Neil Gallagher didn't have much to do between the post although a goal was conceded in injury time it was very scrappy and I wouldn't be worried all that much about it. Paddy Keenan excelled yet again and was by far the best player on the field, top performance. Subs used, Derek Maguire for Pepe Smyth, Mark Brennan for Declan Byrnes, Padraig Rath for Andy McDonnell, Ronan Carroll for Sean O Neill and Darren Clarke for Brian White

How did Mark Brennan play when he came on and where? Good to see him back, like to see him as a permanent fixture in the team, a natural footballer. Any more Wild Geese about?

brennan did ok when he came on.the only frustrating thing is that the league is only two weeks away and brennan could have been tried in midfield as an expirement as, lets face it o'neil is just not up to it.

Monaghan have never achieved anything and never will so Inniskeen calf should get his facts straight. How did you get on in your exam in DCU

i think thats a very valid point about Brennan in midfield. He is quick, agile and powerful Might not be the biggest but he could really help Paddy Keenan out there. Very good suggestion PK57. I would think that position would definitely be worth a punt for fitzer.

i was at the game on sunday and i have to say like the rest on the comments it wasnt pretty but we won. one of the talking points is mid-field, o neill ok a big man but doesnt have the legs anymore. i dont think mark brennan is the answer either because he is very good on the 40 thats were he played his best football. giving David Devenney a try would be a good call he played very well last year with the juniors i went to all the junior games and i was impressed but seeing as he is in his 30's he doesnt have long left so like sneachta said i think Richie Brennan from cooley would be the way to go, as with David he was very very good last year, he can cover the ground box to box and he can take a score. if i am right here i think he scored a goal in croke park and in the semi final, how many of our mid fielders have being doing that of late? i jus think he would be an option and why isnt he already in this panel along with more from that team they where are next best bunch last year?

would anyone agree???
