Slayer....I've given the best point ever to a wexford man! Followed by a Limerick man!

Turn off the blinkers lads. DJ was not overrated, although I do think Shefflin is better.

While it has to be Ciaran's point for me i have to give a serious mention to Niall McCarthys point in the all ireland final at the 45 on the sideline off the stick after he soloed about 30 yards Always loved that one too!

Im going for Brodericks - I was there and it was worth the admission fee alone.
I remember the point that chap from Wexford got when he doubled on the sliotar from almost half way-about 5 or 6 years ago I think in a Leinster championship game. That wes great too.

DJ overrated? Do you watch the sport at all? Best player I have ever watched in my lifetime - but Henry is close as well as Brian Whelahan, and Joe will run him close in a few years (and hopefully overtake him!)

the lads asyaing DJ was over rated are Cork strikers. Cark lads always refer to DJ not scoring much ever against them but fail to see the immense contribution he made in those games and to the Kilkenny team over the years. He is an absolute legend.

Dj's point was brilliant because he took such time and it was an all Ireland. Still not as good as Ciarán Carey's or Eoin Quigley's for that matter.

My favourite which is completely biased was Henry's 1st I saw him score in senior vs. Laois, (kinda like the cork one in the league this year) caught the ball 65/70 yards out beat 3 backs threw it up, defender dived to block him and he caught it again on the hurl instead of hitting while swinging and left handed knocked it over the bar from 50 yards out. League game in Nowlan Park

Dj was great when laying waste to minnow counties by 20 points.
But remind me how much did he score in the finals 99, 03, and 04?

Cork arrogance coming out of redfoot. Take the foot out of your mouth. If you are so blind as to look at DJ's contribution to the sport by just looking at his scoring total in 3 matches, you may as well give up.

And as for your comment with regard to minnow counties, could you please explain who they are? More Munster arrogance. Do you not remember that great Offaly tem of the late 80s and early 90s that DJ had to fight Leinster against? The Wexford team of the 90s that produced the 96 winners? From the time DJ made his senior debut to his retirement, there were 6 all ireland winners. 3 from Leinster....Kilkenny, Wexford and Offaly. And during that time the Offaly team were probably the team of the decade. But stick to your strikes, your Peoples republic and your langers.

For me Ciaran Carey's has to be the best, especially as it knocked out the All Ireland champions in the dying minutes.
Kevin Brodericks was a great score too but I always identify that score as the turning point in Kilkenny's approach to hurling "on th edge". After that Cody instilled tougher defending tactics from number 15 back to 1 and we know whe tht got us all.

We are giving our honest opinion on what we have seen of DJ, admittedly I take more notice when he was playing Cork and based on those performances in particular the man was pretty average to me, and that is based over a couple of KK vCork games so I am not just singling out one game here. I was too young to remember his starting years so I cant comment on them. So in summary from my point of view DJ was average enough. Like someone said already maybe he ran up some impressive scores in Leinster but considering the opposition does that make him anymore remarkable. He obviously was good therefore some rated him so highly but I just never saw it. Henry is by far the best I'v seen and this is not cork arrogance as you call it.

My Dad is 70 so has seen the greats since the early 50s onwards so he never saw ring at his best but having been to Every Leinster Final bar 1984 and every final involving a Leinster team he has seen a few players. He still rates DJ as being better than Henry. If you ever want to see how good DJ was, check out the 1997 Quarter Final vs. Galway. He scored 2-12 I think that day, he was incredible!! People Rate DJ as being better than Henry because he had very little playing with him no offence to that team but they were a poor team, bar John Power and Tich Phelan who were hurling men and getting old but not on the same level as Eddie Brennan or Eoin Larkin or even Gorta. DJ carried an average Kilkenny Team where as Henry excels on a nigh perfect Kilkenny team.

Who won the all-ireland in 1994? 1996? 1998?

But fire ahead and judge DJ by TWO matches. You're making fools of yourselves. I played under age against DJ at all levels from under 12 onwards. One of the finest hurlers ever. And redfoot, you haven't touched a nerve. Just shown the bitterness of some Cork people who can't appreciate the talent of DJ for what it was.

ciaran carey is the man ,what a score to knock the all-ireland champs out. quigley of wexford has to be number 2 ,what skill and pure overhead strike!

For pure skill Eoin Quigleys was best. Ciaran Careys was exceptional in that it was the crucial score at a crucial moment when it was really needed. DJ was definitely not overated and I would put him ahead of Henry who has played with a much better team (relatively). Many of the teams DJ played with were inferior to some of the other teams that were around at that time. To me DJ had that magic and could conjure something out of nothing when least expected - a genius. I could not compare any of the current Kilkenny team with him.

Lochgarman abu, well said. Hopefully we'll see more of that magic from a fully fit Quigley again this year.

Has to be Ciarán Carey's point V Clare in 1996. Have never seen a score as good and very much doubt that I ever will
