The Rock's point was a mighty score all right, but Ciaran Carey gets my vote for the best ever. It was in the last minute of an epic match with the scores level when he grabbed that puck-out, soloed 50 yards and fired over the winning point against the reigning all-Ireland champions. He was the best player on the pitch that day and its a shame he never won an all-Ireland. Gaillimh_Abu (Galway) - Posts: 1051 - 17/01/2010 16:54:56 535240 Link 0 |

Ciaran Careys point against Clare in 1996 was best I've ever seen, but am probably biased. Still brings out the goose bumps when I watch it. He was a class act. creb (Limerick) - Posts: 131 - 17/01/2010 18:55:14 535394 Link 0 |

no doubt about it O'Sullivan's score was a great score and I actually think he did the same against us in a qualifier in Thurles in 2002, he didn't hit anyone but came out of defence and smashed it over. slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6627 - 18/01/2010 09:58:12 535625 Link 0 |

Agree slayer, Ciarans was great because it was the last minute of a knockout game. Redfoot (Cork) - Posts: 388 - 18/01/2010 17:13:02 536277 Link 0 |

Must agree, DJ to me was severely overrated. Maybe because I can only remember him play from around 1999 on, but whatever games that I did see him play he just seemed ordinary enough, certainly no Henry Sheflin but I probably just missed his best years. tj09 (Cork) - Posts: 481 - 18/01/2010 18:31:25 536362 Link 0 |

Actually, now as I think of it,Liam Dunne's point vs Offaly to beat them by 13 point's in 2003 was the best I seen.He hit it from the extreme right of his own end line and put over from there,it was in Wexford Pk aswell which has a pitch about the same size of Croke Pk.
