Division Four for 2010

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

It is harsh because it is a complete joke that a team should be asked to play a divison 4 play off at the start of 2011 when the league kicked off in March!
Indeed my own team suffered at the hands of Burt and there antics this year but that was a different matter. Calling for any club to be thrown out over this is quite simply pathetic. As for your reference to Brian Sheerin - there is more to life than gaelic football, if they fella wants to fulfill his ambition then so be it without some smart ass making snitey remarks towards his participation in the show. The county board are to blame for the fixture chaos and not the county's only dual club! They need to re-think their fixture strategy (if they even have one). Revamp the league's and play every team once.

Democrat,

If you knew anything at all about this division you would know that it was Burt and their hurling commitments that held the whole league up. They'll get no sympathy from me. Newton could play the game last Monday, what's so special about Burt?

Not their fault that they play both codes.

democrat:

Just to back up what breaker said. It was Burt that held the league up in the first place as all in Division 4 have witnessed all season. But to be totally honest, its hard to blame Burt fully. If the Co. Board puts up with this nonsense then its only natural that the club will take the ****.

I admire what Burt have done in terms of promoting Hurling but if it's impacting to the degree it is on footbal commitments and on fixtures on other clubs then it's make your mind up time for Burt as to which code they're going to commit fully to.

And what about Red Hughs who have players playing for Setanta? (a team who had a more successful season than Burt might I add) There are also alot of teams in that Division who have players playing soccer as well as Gaelic. Newton being a good example. Should they be looking for games off next year as well?

I'd say your downplaying that a bit Democrat. Richie Kee, Damien Browne, Marty Bonner are a few off the top of my head I'm sure theres more.

Laganvalley, you might want to Google the road from Newtown to Armagh too. I see in the paper that Burt are appealing to Ulster Council - and they've had a good record on that.

Some about of rubbish on this forum boys and its always the same posters talking the same guff. Of all the clubs in the Division I'd say we write less than anybody else and do the talking on the field weather we win, lose or draw. Seems we are an easy target from every team in the division because we didnt field on Monday, especially teams who probably had nothing to play for since the start of the Summer. Fair enough we didnt field on Monday but the game wasnt re-fixed according to the rulebook and we took a stand on it. What ever happens now is out of our hands and likely to be decided by the Ulster council. We have got a lot of stick from teams saying we are afraid to play Newton. Listen there has hardly been a kick of the ball between the teams all year and all the games have been very close, its not as if they were ever going to give us a tanking was it? The fact is we had players working on Monday it didnt suit us to play yet they couldnt fix it for a Sunday. Another point people are making is that we think we are too good for the Division and we were too cocky. Total rubbish. We are in Division for because we deserved to be relegated and we knew it would be a tough league to get out of as it has turned out that way. To say we dont respect the league is not true. As for the people saying we held up the league due to hurling commitments they do have a point. However during the Summer we tried to get games played midweek yet nobody would play us. We dislike playing in December as much as anybody else the season is long enough. And the biggest joke of all the people who say we should choose to play either gaelic or hurley and not both. What is the GAA? It promotes both gaelic football and hurling does it not? Being a dual club with a small group of players isnt easy yet we manage as best we can. The posters who say we shouldnt play both are obviously not GAA men at all. We have been playing hurley since before the GAA was even formed we are hardly gonna pack it in now are we?

burt had several chances to play this game over december, they abused the system and good nature of newtown. when monday came around, they switched off the lights and hid under the bed. they dont deserve and 5th chance to play.

Burt is'n 100% to blame the county board is as bad but possibly because use have a man in there pullin strings for use. Any other club in the division would bite your hand off to be in the play off. Dont give us that rubbish

Burtsman, your 100% right Burt are a dual club ,one of the oldest clubs in history, sure if you think of Donegal hurling you think of Burt Gaa club, and for people to post "playing one code only" not Gaa people, Bigj83 for you to state that football in the division is total ........? And God help the county team, what made a pro like yourself watch such football, hopefully you'll be eating your hat this time next year. I seen some great talent on both teams (you probably never kicked a ball). Burtsman you posted "we do our talking on the field win, lose or draw" what a load of nonsense? Naomh Colmcille can't get you's on the field so I'd say you's do a lot talking off the field. You can dress the situation up all you want, but fact of the matter is you have let one of the oldest clubs in the country down by not fielding. I've contact with both camps Noamh colmcille trained right up to new years day, even on New Year's Day, through the snow and -12/-13 below, Burt trained once with 8 players showing up. Talking with two of your main players on the 28th at that stage they said "were not playing the game on bank holiday "nothing to do with work and one player away in Scotland. Burt management knew and ordered players not to show up, sure it makes sense you's weren't training. Bottom line a letdown for Burt Gaa.

My point about doing the talking on the field was about the fact that we never write on this blowing about how good we are and how much we will beat teams by like many other posters
