I asked my dad this and he replied Maurice Fitzgerald was a delight to watch.

Id say Brian Dooher, Padraic Joyce and it sickens me to admit Graham G was great on the pitch... really hate admiting that. I actually prefered Joe Sheridan and I really think he is a better idol for children.

Johnny Nevin from Carlow deserves a mention. It's easy to look up to players from successful counties but its guys like him that get forgotten eventhough he gave great service to both the footballers & hurlers of Carlow for none of the glamour. A true gael.

Jason Sherlock of course. A professional in every sense of the word.The man is a perfect role model for any onlooking youngster. From the 70s Paddy Cullen was a hero of mine and in the 80s it was the great Barney Rock.
