Graham Geraghty. Not many other players got the same amount of abuse as he did, and considering some of the things that were said he handled it fairly well. And he has nice hair :-) Royal_Girl2k9 (Meath) - Posts: 2107 - 08/01/2010 14:55:18 528002 Link 0 |
Mightn't be popular as a wexfordman, but king henry (shefflin) is, and has been, my hero. A true gentleman on & off the field and the perfect role model IMO. yellabelly (Wexford) - Posts: 1062 - 08/01/2010 14:56:16 528003 Link 0 |
Jimmy Keaveney! One of the games true gentlemen. Of current stock I would say Brian Cody and in a few years maybe Anto Daly will be there as well! hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 08/01/2010 14:56:44 528004 Link 0 |

DJ CAREY - his the biggest reason why the cats have gone from a traditional power to a dynasty. All of todays panel wanted to play like DJ. With this wave of players coming through together , they all looked up to the DODGER and tried to emulate his game. We are the only county where kids were giving up soccer to play hurling and boy we had some soccer team! richiescats (USA) - Posts: 420 - 08/01/2010 15:14:27 528033 Link 0 |
The term biggest idol makes me think of a popstar (wannabe)! But the people I most respect in GAA circles are Mickey Harte and John Mullane at present, Kilkenny's John Power (lion of a player) from a good few years ago and two other great hurlers John Leahy and Ciaran Carey for divulging personal issues to the press for the benefit of others! Its tough one between King Henry, the genius that was DJ, or the midfield maestro that was Liam Chunky O'Brien. Puddersthecat (Kilkenny) - Posts: 1692 - 08/01/2010 15:39:20 528056 Link 0 |

So predictable that most people have gone for players from their own counties! How about being a bit less parochial and looking at the sports as a whole rather than your own county? Tongo (UK) - Posts: 1795 - 08/01/2010 16:10:41 528113 Link 0 |
