"The Tyrone of the new millennium is a growing County of about 165,000 people. Its age structure is young
and demographically healthy: 26% are aged 16 or under compared with an Northern Ireland (NI) average of
24%. In the same way 16% are aged 60 or over, compared with an NI average of 18%. Like most of Ireland
however, Tyrone's tradition has been one of population decline: the current population is little over half the
313,000 people who lived in Tyrone in 1841, just before the Great Hunger. Recent growth is projected to
continue with the County's population forecast to reach 185,000 (plus 12%) by 2017.
In the particular context that NI provides, 62% of Tyrone's population has a Catholic community background.
The NI confl ict of the late twentieth Century impinged heavily on Tyrone with some 350 people losing their
lives here during it."

Above is the 'controversial' paragraph from the Tyrone strategy document that Partitionist-Paddy refers to, please tell me what is wrong with this?

Honestly, the constant attacks, snide remarks etc on Tyrone by the three amigos of PaddyO, his side-kick toma007 and Patrique is incredibly tiring and bordering on the obsessive. I would say the vast majority of their posts relate to or at some stage make reference to Tyrone which is unusual considering they are from Mayo, Dublin and Antrim respectively. Strange guys.

I have NEVER attacked Tyrone on these hallowed pages, never.

I might suggest they are not the greatest thing since sliced bread. That is an opinion not an attack.

However if Tyrone people still have a MASSIVE inferiority complex despite the last 7 years, well.....don't hold me responsible for that.

525696 Tomato, I was thinking about your last statement regards inclusiveness, and despite you not being able to prove that Patrique is the"only" poster from Ulster who wants integration want you to consider something. I am a Britsih citizen, not through choice, but I accept it as it appears to be the will, thus far of the majority in the six counties. I respect my Protestant friends and neighbours wish to remain British, although I don't understand it. They also accept that I would wish to be part of a united Ireland and understand why, yet they disagree with me, fair enough. The thing that gets me is that you are so pro-partitionist that you would deny me and my brethern in Ulster the ability to become part of one nation as is our birthright. Is this the type of inclusiveness that you suggest we extend to our Unionist brethern in Ulster, or does your concept of inclusiveness apply only to the way Northern Catholics and Protestants deal with each other. I would suggest that your attitude to the North is not only bigoted but devoid of any sense of intelligence.................Omaghredhand you show me the day Republicans started to believe in intergration and not segergration...The point i was making had to do with Gaa clubs in Northern Ireland and nothing to do with politics..You seem to have the answers you show me what Gaa clubs are doing to bring intergration up there............

Would have to agree with Goodfella, Tir there are three posters on this board who seem to spend their time searching for articles about Tyrone and then make derogatory remarks. It's quite sad. We have our idiots in Tyrone and we probably have got a bit carried away with recent successes. However the constant snide remarks are getting a bit tedious.

Toma007, there are numerous initiatives going on in the North to try and have greater participation and co-operation with the Unionist community. My club has both Protestant members and has had playing members in the past. It is not easy to be inclusive, the GAA is seen as a Catholic sport and the majority of clubs are in Catholic communities. Unionists find this uncomfortable and given that state schools do not play GAA, you may be starting to understand why integration is not easy. Tyrone last year had members of the Glentoran football club at a NFL game and the Ulster council had a highly publicised coaching session in the heart of East Belfast. Not everyone one in the North is a bigot.

Do you mean since 1995 when they beat Tyrone. It was Mayo and Meath in the All ireland final in 1996 Dell.

Omaghredhand,

I forwarded the O'keefe cup winning team to the present head master for inclusion on the site.

I notice they have a photo of 1971 Mageen winners and it says the won the O'keefe in 1972.

They did not. They lost the final.

Cabn you believe that for a final at Croke Park I had to get out of the crowd in the hogan stand to run the line? honest to God, what an organisation.

Then there was a row and I remain the only linesman in an all Ireland final at Croke to have hoit someone over the head with the linesman's flag pole.

happy days indeed.

hopefully the O'Keefe winning team, me at the extreme left in the back row, will be on the school site soon.

PS: Just dug out the medal. It says "Corn ui Caoim" with the old dot above the M as they didn't use the letter H in those days. makes you feel old.
