Very hard to watch this after a couple of weeks watching the PDC. The first game of the tournament was ok with top seed O'Shea beating Rob Green however the standard of th other games has been very poor. Dr.Shephard (Leitrim) - Posts: 2187 - 03/01/2010 15:53:33 523391 Link 0 |
Some difference in class and atmosphere!Though at the same time the best in each are not that far apart in standard-except for taylor. It's just the lower standard players are extremely lower. beer baron (Cavan) - Posts: 3916 - 03/01/2010 17:46:01 523467 Link 0 |
Don't agree there Baron. There were several PDC players who finished matches with 100+ averages. You would be lucky to see 1 player with a 100+ average in any match in the BDO. Dr.Shephard (Leitrim) - Posts: 2187 - 03/01/2010 17:53:34 523477 Link 0 |
Not great standard and where did the BBC get the presenter. He is very unprofessional. MARNELL (Westmeath) - Posts: 728 - 03/01/2010 18:13:50 523490 Link 0 |

It's nowhere near as good as the PDC in an overall way. I'd say only Martin Adams , Ted Hankey , Tony O'Shea and on his day John Walton would make any impact in the PDC. However , 3 of this years semi finalists were very recent converts from the BDO. In fact all 3 other than Taylor(himself a BDO World champion before the split)were BDO World champions/finalists in the last 6/7 years. dubupnorth (Dublin) - Posts: 1897 - 04/01/2010 11:28:41 523861 Link 0 |

Its magnified as its straight after the PDC, i think the BDO should let the dust settle on the PDC before they have there championship. I can't watch it. footballman22 (Galway) - Posts: 134 - 04/01/2010 15:06:55 524009 Link 0 |
The master , I know what you mean but I was just pointing out that the likes of Barney , Webster & Aussie Simon were in the BDO up until VERY recentley and have got to the latter stages of the PDC World championships in a very short space of time. In fact Barney won the PDC final at his first attempt in 2007. The gap between the top 3 or 4 players in both organisations isn't too big (Taylor is obviously an exeption to this rule) but if the likes of O'Shea , Hankey etc were to ''jump ship'' I wouldn't hold out much of a future for the BDO. Take out the top 3 or 4 and the BDO standard from what I've seen isn't upto much and with far higher money to be earned and with the TV exposure Darts enjoys with Sky it's not too bold a statement to say that the BDO will dwindle to little or nothing within a few years if they don't do something to keep their top players on board. dubupnorth (Dublin) - Posts: 1897 - 04/01/2010 15:09:46 524011 Link 0 |

The BDO is a more real tournament. In any given year you never know who will win unlike the PDC. Just because it doesnt have Sky pushing it down our throats witht the bells and whistles doesnt mean the atmosphere is any less. Inactive x5 (Cavan) - Posts: 1452 - 04/01/2010 15:45:56 524036 Link 0 |
