Any new faces for O'Bryne Cup?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I know it's still a week away if it even gets played at all if this weather keeps up. Anyone have an idea of what the team will be like will it be more or less the same as last year? Or will there be a few new faces?

If you are moving or thinking about moving to London and are interested in playing gaelic football then why not think about joining North London Shamrocks GFC. The North London Shamrocks are based in the Enfield area of North London. Players of the club hail from all over the north London area. We have our own training facilities and are also one of the very few London clubs who have access to their own pitch.

North London Shamrocks are a very progressive club and reached the London intermediate football final in 2008 where we were beaten in a replay. We have a thriving underage club and we entered a reserve team into competition for the first time this year. We're also a very friendly bunch of lads and always welcome new faces down to the club. If you're interested in playing Gaelic football and expanding your social network please get in touch. You can contact the club by email at [email protected] or by logging on to the website www.theshamrocks.co.uk for further contact details.

Good few new faces. Canavan, Kavanagh and Mark Doyle from Rathnew. Few from Pat's.. Rory Finn back in the panel. Stephen Mann of Aughrim is also called up as well as Paul Hogan and the 2 Dillon brothers William and Stephen from Tinahely. Michael English from Baltinglass and Eamon Kearns I think from Avondale. Lad from Judes too. Cunningham.. His first name escapes me at the moment.

Is there any truth in the rumour that theres a "Named" Carlow man in your football panel, or is it just a WUM rumour.

GAA: the Leinster Council has postponed all eight of this weekend's O'Byrne Cup matches and the Connacht Council has postponed the four scheduled FBD League games.

Just how bad can Wicklow football really be? Pretty bad if Micko's latest, albeit predictable, carry on is anything to go by. Yes indeed he has been down that well worn path to Carlow again with a certain rugby playing midfielder in his sights. Of course he's not eligibile to play for ye, not that that ever stopped ye in the past, but it seems that another utterly laughable transfer request is on the way. I am told that he will leave his native Fenagh to join some club in Wicklow - not that it matters who as he won't play for them - thereby making him free to tog out for ye again in 2010. Don't be worrying yourselves, there'll be no objections from Carlow this time round - ye are are welcome to him. However, he has informed Micko that he cannot return to train and play for ye until Tullow's Leinstwer league and Towns Cup campaign has ended. At best he could be free to play for ye as early as mid March, at worst it would be the week of the championship game against us on May 16th (that is if Tullow get to the Towns Cup final as they did two years ago).

Have ye no pride at all, or indeed shame?

Watch out for Canavan from Rath Naoi and definitely Morley from Pats - he kept Leighton quiter in the Co Final than most battle hardened inter-county defenders did all year

leighton was held scoreless from play in the 125 cup final aswel against balto, i would agree morley was very good in the final aswel and is probably better in the half back line

Im delighted Canavan got the call.. During Rathnew's league and championship campaign he has been impressive in the games I seen.. Great competition for wing back slots now.. Apart from McWalter, Hayden and Dalton, We now have Canavan, Morley, rory Finn and William Dillon who all might also get a chance here.. Good competition.

Aboys, I was there in Aughrim when Wicklow drew Waterford in the league last February. We were awful in that game, but had finally edged our way into a 0-13 to 1-9 lead. Enter Alan Nolan - drops a ball straight to a Waterford player and he scored a goal. Wicklow 0-13 Waterford 2-9. Two late late points by Tony Hannon and Dean Odlum got us out of jail at the very end. Waterford were very unlucky not to win the game. I remember the game well, I'd say he cost us 2-2 that day. Waterford's full-forward Liam O'Lionain scored 2-02 that day. Funny that.

Subs: Ciaran Walshe for Jackman (Yellow), Mick McLoughlin for Keogh, Darren Hayden for Kinch, Anthony McLoughlin for Brophy (Yellow)
