Best Irish film ever

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Adam and Paul is the best shout so far I'd say. There are loads of other good Irish films but they all have their flaws or part of what makes them great is the fact they stir some patriotism or have historical contexts etc. Adam and Paul is just a great film no matter where its from and doesn't rely on any cheap tricks and easy options about getting one over on the brits or tragedies etc.

So its one from Adam and Paul, The Playboys or Run of the Country.

In the Name of the Father - hands down. Gripping, real and antagonistic.

Nocky: 'I Went Down' Classic stuff man. Haven't seen that film in yonks.

The last great Irish film that I saw was 'Kings' which is based on the play 'The Kings of the Kilburn High Road' by Jimmy Murphy. Powerful stuff.

510291 the informer or the rising of the moon.

What was the rising of the moon all about Ollie ?,the song itself is a Wexford song but they never done a movie on the Pikemen so I believe ?

it is a john ford film made in the 1950s.there is 3 different story lines in it.one of the characters actually sings the rising of the moon.great song.

"Is that a wok I see? Very nice. And what kind of oil would you use? I hear olive's the best".

"Well that's what I use".

"And what are the advantages you find it has above, say... chip-pan oil or..."

Great film indeed. Full of hidden one liner gems.

"Sorry sheep..."
