This programme also clearl stated that there are as many, if not more, 'Irish' at it than 'foreigners'. Shame on those who do so and shame on the Department of Social Welfare who couldn't be bothered! They'd rather strike than deal with reality. Root them out!!! Didn't see the show last night. What were the normal routes by which people were commiting social welfare fraud? Childrens, disability, rent allowance? NavyNBlue (Dublin) - Posts: 1357 - 08/12/2009 09:54:57 506906 Link 0 |
2 wrongs don't make a right. There has been and there still is massive fraud going on at all levels of our society. Fraud is a crime regardless of whether its a Banker living in a 2 million quid pad or a social welfare recipient living in a Council estate. All fraudulent activity needs to be clamped down on and the offenders penalised. However the penalties should be pro rata, in other words the big fish should get it in the neck. corkcelt (Cork) - Posts: 4388 - 08/12/2009 12:00:45 507020 Link 0 |
lads, i m a public sector worker, boo hiss, and i m currently building a house. All my stuff is bought locally, and all my labour is irish - not a rascist etc, just want to support local employers. I got a tiler in to do jobs for me and we agreed a price, assuming it was cheque payment, or at least the bulk of it. When the strike went ahead i had the 2 lads ribbing me about how we were destroying the country, etc. When i went to pay him he said he d only do cash as it would affect his rent allowance! I said ok, but i d have to get a better price. He said he d let me off with the vat.. That he never pays anyhow! and i know hes flat out working the wholetime. More fool me.. old yellar (None) - Posts: 2631 - 08/12/2009 19:50:39 507664 Link 0 |
