Roy is priceless, walks out on his country despite being captain and then critizes Given whose commitment to ireland has never being questioned. Tells the irish people to get over the Henry incident depsite the fact that he can't get over Saipan even though he was in the wrong. Gives out about Delaney not phoning him, what did he want a friendly chat after walking out on his country. He walked out on ireland, sunderland and soon will be gone out of Ipsiwch where he's going aournd waving a big stick. I hope Cork people who sided with him during Saipan on the basis that he was from Cork will re-evaluate their stance. gahfan (Wexford) - Posts: 639 - 26/11/2009 12:24:54 494693 Link 0 |
Nope, Roy Keane is a legend! macattack (UK) - Posts: 584 - 26/11/2009 13:29:35 494781 Link 0 |
Nobody takes him seriously except maybe a few barflys around Mayfield. He should have stuck to GAA - I would do anything to hear Ricey McMenamin wind up Keane. bydgoszcz.gael (Tyrone) - Posts: 54 - 26/11/2009 16:44:06 495034 Link 0 |

What sparked it all off was Roy saying disparaging things about his fellow players and management team in the Irish time interview with Tom Humphries. Would anyone think that was acceptable behavious from the captain of the team? By all means offer constructive criticism within the cirlce and in private but to a newspaper? I've never seen it in GAA. If you look at footage of Roy in Saipan before the bust up he looked like somebody who didn't want to be there. Similarly if you look at his rant last week closely you will see that he looks a bit demented in himself, i'd say he has his own problems to be honest. I had great time for him before Saipan but have lost all respect for him now. Cork people tended to back him on the basis that he's from cork, i could never really get that logic. Man United fans tended to back him in Saipan too but need to see beyond what club he played for. gahfan (Wexford) - Posts: 639 - 27/11/2009 10:56:45 495878 Link 0 |
Is it just a Cork thing ? Hurlers who won't play for the county, Roy Keane who walked out on his country, Stephen Ireland who refuses to play for his country etc etc thirty1 (Dublin) - Posts: 161 - 27/11/2009 15:14:03 496114 Link 0 |
I'm sick to my teeth of people saying that Roy Keane walked out on his country etc etc. He was SENT HOME!! Both MacCarthy & Keane have both said that. I admire him for the way he actually wanted to give us every chance of going far in the competition and not taking second best & going on the tear. The Germans, French, Italians, Brazilians all prepare professionally. choctaw (Cork) - Posts: 274 - 27/11/2009 17:47:53 496306 Link 0 |
Self sabouteur of the highest order, ruined the chance to play on the highest stage twice in his career, once with Ireland and then with utd in semi in 99 needs to shut up and deal with his own team....... getonwithit (Carlow) - Posts: 527 - 27/11/2009 22:33:43 496584 Link 0 |

Ya, Keane was right with everything he said 1. Ireland had their chance to win before France scored;, 2. The ball should have been cleared before Henry got near it; 3. Ireland just didnt have the belief to go on and win (they should take a look at the rugby team); 4. J Delaney is a complete idiot (fully confirmed after the request he made to FIFA regarding the 33rd team); 5. 'What goes around comes around'; 6. Just accept it and move on! He's a man with a very strong opinion - I thought he was harsh at first but every point he made was spot on! Yes, a true legend! and so is Donal Og, and Ronan OGara and Sonia O'Sullivan ........... aine007 (Galway) - Posts: 55 - 02/12/2009 00:44:29 500235 Link 0 |
James Horan etc, some people feel he was sent home, others think that he went home. Can you see that the interview with humphries was what sparked it all off? Do you think that was acceptable behaviour from the captain of the team? Also, Mick was prepared to swallow his pride for the sake of the team and the country and allow him back even though he shouldn't have been let back. You'll remember tommy gorman, even ahern etc trying to mediate and Mick was the one who was prepared to budge, despite the fact that he had been insulted and mistreated. gahfan (Wexford) - Posts: 639 - 02/12/2009 10:14:33 500341 Link 0 |
