Everyone seems to be against PAY FOR PLAY!!!

Well then what about MONEY TO MANAGE?

Why is that subject not getting aired?

Sionnach: tis a fair point you make. Not sure how that would stand up from a legal point of view cos there's always an opportunistic lawyer who will find a loophole to make some money out of an innocent situation. And of course there would be the politics with the county boards if they weren't in control of their own panels. Can't see them being too happy with the GAA holding all the contracts. If there was a way of keeping the integrity of playing for the county of your birth, then i think it should be explored, but there are a number of pitfalls along the way.

Big Sacks, Why don't you direct that question to Mark Conway (Of One Belief). I'd be very intested to hear his response to that one actually.

The GAA have already abused soo many principals that if they were to allow a wage for players it wouldnt make a difference, i never thought id see the day when soccer & rugby, too british sports, would be brought into croke park. Members of the british security forces, RUC/PSNI & the british armed forces, those who uphold the british rule in ireland by means of arms, would be allowed to play GAA. The british have already robbed the irish people of 60% of our cultural indentity & that the fact the we have allowed them to play our game & use our stadium to host their games is a high form of tretchery.

The GAA have already allowed a british influence inflict the GAA & by paying the players would just be another blow to the principals of this "once-irish" game.

Barrackbuster: do you have a problem with 'Brits' playing / watching GAA as well? Am interested to find this out.

IMO all inter county players should get paid. I know that we could never sustain the type of wages that the likes of the premier league soccer players enjoy in england - 100,000 a week and so on. But, if we gave all inter county players, say, 10,000euro per week or so. It would only cost the GAA less than 1billiion euro per year which they could easily afford. I think this would be adequate and would be fair compensation for what the players contribute to the fabric of society.

I can see problems already whiter, The exchange rate for Euro's at the minute wouldn't be great. This may be resisted by players from the counties in the occupied six.

I suppose you're right mugsy, the nordies would find something to object to. But in fairness 10,000 a week would not be bad money in these recessionary times. It is a short career i know but still

On another thread, people were talking about flooded pitches.
Grounds should be paid; money for drainage, stands, locker rooms.
I think that money should be used for infrastructure.

No to pay, and as for the comments of barrackbuster98, well sir if you want to keep your head stuck in the sand and cling to events of the past go ahead and do so. There are enough posters who seem to use this forum as a means to venting their political views without adding another one, stick to the topic in question and cut out this crap about the GAA selling its soul to the Brits by opening Croke Park and by the way both soccer and rugby are global sports played globally and right now the brits aren't very good at either one of them so stop your moaning
