Well Dinny has named a 45 man trial panel for inclusion on 2010 county panel. What do you all think of the panel and any names you think will make the grade next year!! 1 John Devlin Armoy 2 Kevin B Mc Shane Ballycastle 3 Ryan Donnelly Ballycastle 4 Michael Dallat Ballycastle 5 Peter Dallat Ballycastle 6 Chris Boyle Ballycastle 7 Arron Smylie Cloughmills 8 Liam Kearns Cloughmills 9 Michael Devlin Cloughmills 10 James Doherty Cloughmills 11 Thomas McCann Creggan 12 Donal Mc Naughton Cushendall 13 Paddy Mc Naughton Cushendall 14 Michael Mc Cambridge Cushendall 15 Paddy Doherty Dunloy 16 James Mc Keague Dunloy 17 Sean Dowds Dunloy 18 Paudie Shivers Dunloy 19 Kevin Mc Keague Dunloy 20 Kevin Molly Dunloy 21 Gareth Magee Dunloy 22 Johnny Mc Intosh Glenariff 23 Randal Mc Donnell Glenariff 24 Seamus Mc Donnell Glenariff 25 Dessie Mc Clean Gortnamona 26 Seamus Dobbin Loughgiel 27 James Campbell Loughgiel 28 Liam Mc Killop Loughgiel 29 Tony Mc Closkey Loughgiel 30 Ciaran Mc Kinley Loughgiel 31 Michael Hasson Rasharkin 32 Eoghan O Neill Rossa 33 Mark Devlin Rossa 34 Conor Rocks Rossa 35 Michael Armstrong Rossa 36 Chris Mc Guinness Rossa 37 John Kerr Rossa 38 Mathew Devlin Rossa 39 Stephen Shannon Rossa 40 Johnny Mc Guinness Rossa 41 Sean Mc Areavey St Galls 42 Barry Mc Fall St Johns 43 Simon Mc Corry St Johns 44 Colm Mc Fall St Johns 45 Kevin Sheerin Tir Na nOg goalgetter (Antrim) - Posts: 87 - 18/11/2009 16:39:25 487517 Link 0 |
only 13 belfast men from 45. what a disgrace. dinny from tipperary obviously has a bias against south antrim. the panel should be 50/50 just like the psni jesusjones (Antrim) - Posts: 385 - 18/11/2009 16:58:46 487551 Link 0 |
You must have very little to be at to count through them names and find how many are from south antrim and from north antrim, just shows the mentality of people like you. I suppose that you will complain if it is a north antrim venue and not a south antrim one. Dinny has picked the players HE thinks will serve this county well and not who me or you think. can someone explain who picked this panel as im sure dinny did not see too many games in antrim last year so give antrim supporters some credability and begin with the TRUTH considering we had no input in picking DINNY in the first place charly (Antrim) - Posts: 1 - 18/11/2009 21:04:37 487760 Link 0 |
Green Glens, I was being carcastic. I am winding up all the city men who think north antrim is out to get them jesusjones (Antrim) - Posts: 385 - 18/11/2009 21:26:55 487773 Link 0 |
your right jesusjones. dinny has obviously been talking to a few north antrim men and has been advised to keep the city men out. big mistake. flankie (Antrim) - Posts: 281 - 18/11/2009 22:16:54 487788 Link 0 |
could of been a few more rossa men to be fair, even though they have 9 going to the trial, time for beller gavin bell to be on county team again without doubt the best centre half in the county, heard marty devine may be goalkeeping coach under dinny, wise choice he knows what he is doing. Think that would be a great choice by Dinny if he chooses to get Martin in as goalkeeping coach, could pass on a few tips to those youngsters. The_facts (Antrim) - Posts: 130 - 18/11/2009 23:07:17 487836 Link 0 |
If that's true its a good call. Met marty a few times in the rossa having a drink, sound man and has an intricate knowledge of the game. reminds me of justin mccarthy in his views on stickwork and the fundamental skills of hurling. will teach ryan mcgarry a thing or two flankie (Antrim) - Posts: 281 - 18/11/2009 23:17:09 487857 Link 0 |
It is on the Antrim County Website that there will be another trial. I think they'll pick the players that impress in this trial and the players who impress in the next and then have a final trial to find some players for next year!! goalgetter (Antrim) - Posts: 87 - 19/11/2009 08:51:58 488016 Link 0 |
would like to know is this the first trial panel who picked it was it the clubs sent names in or what names not on list the herons tumulty l/derg sheenan o grady st galls glad to see mcareavey on good hurler cunningham st johns p mccelland nipper gorts so thats just a short list oh and bell rossa most of these men are 27 agood age for a hurler not these 18 19 20 year old that are named on the trials remember thats what sambo did brought all these minor on board they were just too young and what about last years panel whos to say they are good enough for dinny so should it not be open to all these trials shambo (Antrim) - Posts: 67 - 29/11/2009 10:13:52 497386 Link 0 |
how did the trail go yesterday, the herrons weren't asked to attend as they are on last years panel, i'm assuming that everyone from last year should be back on initially. kautostar (Antrim) - Posts: 71 - 30/11/2009 11:06:46 498112 Link 0 |
As regards to Marty Devines potential role as goalkeeping coach, he is a fine man that knows his way between the sticks. Plenty of experiance of high quality games, and has a few tips up his sleeve even the great Donal óg Cusack would be interested to know. Some of these players are not good enough for county level. There are so many players that come to mind tha I have played against that have not been mentioned! I played against Glenariff and there best player is Randall and his bro, played against the Johnnies and both times there best player was Jimmy Peoples who was playing wing back along with Simon McCrory and G Cutt. I also watched that guy McAreevy from st Galls and they have a few players better than him.... bfasthurler (Antrim) - Posts: 3 - 22/12/2009 10:53:09 520366 Link 0 |
totally agree, Gerard Cutt is one of the finest hurlers of his generation and it is a shame he is being overlooked, Dinny either has a short memory ... flankie (Antrim) - Posts: 281 - 28/12/2009 13:59:52 521576 Link 0 |
The problem you lads in antrim have is you all think you know better than each other, although i have to side with the north antrim lads on this issue, i'm not surprised so many north antrim men are on the panel, those are where the lads who actually win the county hurling championship are from, only two appearances from a belfast team in the last 13 senior county finals, both times Rossa which justifies the healthy number of players from their ranks called up for trials. I can't believe you south antrim lads find this ratio surprising, and i'd lay off the cloughmills men as well, Dinny will decide if they are good enough, they have earned their chance to get this far and its up to them to prove their worth, i think Dinny coming back will be a positive thing for antrim, he certainly cant do any worse than sambo and mckinley so the bar is set low for him this time!
