To be fair why should we accept them with the pain and hurt the caused down through the years .

Dell, sometimes I really do DESPAIR.

The PSNI have only been GOING FOR EIGHT YEARS this month. What have they done in those 8 years, this pain and hurt, unless you mean Tyrone's three all Ireland's.

Now you wanted rid of the RUC and it WAS DONE. KAPUT. FINISHED.

So WTF do you want? Or do you just like MOANING? For years I said all we wanted was the same as any other country, a police force EVERYONE could dislike. We now have it, big strapping peelers from Dublin, Donegal and whatever, and all playing GAA.

But you are still not happy. You want the old days back, with the B Specials and all that. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT? THE WAR IS OVER. SINN FEIN WON. NOW GIVE OVER.

Unless of course you meant the Guards and in that scenario, I apologise. I admit no-one could like the Guards.

Some of the comments on this tread remind me of the fact that some people will never embrace change or give things a chance, its a game of football not a political statement, fair play to all concerned in the PSNI and An Garda Siochana for having such contests.

Dell,

Are you a member of the Traditional Unionist Voice or simply endorse their policies. Are you one of those Peter Robinson called "Unionists living in caves" at his conference?

You certainly sound like them, and have all their views.

Now what I cannot understand is on another thread you want Gerry Adams, CHAMPION of the PSNI, as the next Taoiseach.

Is there any sense to your ravings at all?

What do you lot be on about? One man says the west midland police force have never done no wrong to any Irish, well you might want to ask the Birmingham 6 a few questions. The gardai are no angels either, did any of you ever attend an easter commeration 10 or twenty years ago? They were animals towards us.
The psni/ruc/brits playing GAA is just a load of political correctness gone t..ts up. Next thing you lot will want lizzy presenting sam. Go home you h..ns.

My surname is actually scottish north of england in origin and probably Munster plantation in 1580 though we have been catholic for the 6 generations that I can trace. This plantation actually took place as retaliation for the desmond rebellion which may actually have involved ancestors of my mothers. Thankfuly 400 odd years was enough to heal any bitterness in terms of their marriage. Its also worth noting that much of the Sinn Fein leadership past and present appears to have some form of scottish blood - e.g Adams I myself have never been a member of any security force(north or south) though my brother was in the FCA once. Anyway back to the point Should I stay or Should I go.

dellboypolecat these people are irish, will these men on the PSNI GAA team not be part of the Irish nation? Will they be allowed play then? By your logic, is the Garda team not a betrayal of the GAA's ethos? It is part of the Free State Partitionist Statelet after all and hence part of British Imperialism. Or what about the GAA getting sports grants from the British Government for the facilities in the north? The GAA might be an old fashioned organisation on the national question, but their not completely deluded.

Dublin09, Many, many clubs built their facilities with money from the Duke of Edinburgh awards, and many, many ,many more clubs received grants from the government and the lottery and local DUP councils, and all the rest. Alas Dell lives in a Tardus, and is currently back in 1955.

Only lottery money so stop your anti jibes because you know that clubs in the north do not get money of your DUP BUDDIES so give it a rest and this time i do not want to respond to you any longer because all you do is spout about things you think you know about.

Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy has paid tribute to a policeman and founding father of the GAA at the formal marking of his grave.

Thomas St George McCarthy was one of seven sports enthusiasts who gathered at the Hayes Hotel in Thurles, Co Tipperary in 1884 for the inaugural meeting of the sporting organisation.

But the former Royal Irish Constabulary inspector fell foul of the association's own rules just two years later when it imposed the controversial Rule 21 prohibiting members of the British forces from joining.

I MIGHT know a bit more than you because I actually LIVE in N.Ireland. You sound as though you lived here in the 1950s. Duke of Edinburgh awards are NOT lottery awards, they were going years before the lottery was invented, that is the BRITISH GOVERNMENT lottery. For over 30 years now clubs have been getting grants, and just last month our club got money from the DUP council. You see Dellboy, your beloved Sinn Fein have convinced us the residents, that we belong here, it is our country as well, so we are entitled to grants from all sources. Now I would not be a great one for SF but in this they are right. That is why they support these schemes, and that ois why they support the PSNI. Things have changed a lot since you lived here. Tell you what, ask ANYONE in Sinn Fein how things worlk. Why do you think there are now republican dissidents, and you certainly sound like one.

There is a fairly big difference between the list you have mentioned a member of the "security forces", which the RUC/PSNI are.

How would you know?

One small example. In the 81 years or so they were the rUC I never once was invited to play traditional music in the police club at New Forge Lane.

I have played 3 "sessions" in the last few years.

BIG, BIG change that, but as I said, what would you know. There may be loads of PSNI personnel from Kildare but they do not operate there.
