Distance from Ceannt Railway Station to Pearse Stadium?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I am from Armagh and intend to travel to Salthill tomorrow via Train from Dublin arriving at 11.46. Is it far from the Station to Salthill( ie Pearse Stadium), I am a 67 year old pensioner, would it be too far to walk.

Its a walk of a few miles. You'd probably be better if you can to get the bus in Eyre Square or the taxi rank is just at the head of the square.

Samo, if you come out of the station and go left and turn left again and walk along the front of the Meyrick Hotel. Keep walking to the AIB bank and there is a bus stop outside the bank. This bus goes to Salthill/Knocknacarra every few mins. Ask It will definitely leave you no more then 500 yards Pearse Stadium. Ask the driver and he shouldn't set you wrong as to where to get off.

hello Sam, it would be about a 35 minute walk for your average walker. You can get a bus from the square to save the legs, especially if you are goin to be standing on the terrace.Hope you enjoy the game, fairplay to you.

Sam I would reccomend the Imperial Hotel on the Square ( opposite side from the Railway station) for your Sunday roast.I have no connection with that establishment by the way just had excellent grub there the day of the Connaght final.

Did you make it to the match ok Sam. Didnt notice too many Armagh accents on the terraces. That Portumna side can play a bit, eh?

Yes folks made it to Salthill and home again. Left home outside Armagh at 05.00am, drove to Newry and got 05.55 bus to Busarus ( Dublin), Luas to Heuston, 08.40 train to Galway arr at 11.45 app, taxi to Salthill (7.00 Euros). Got out of Taxi at Roundabout, got lunch in a Bar/ Restaurant there, walked to Pearse Stadium ( via Park walk), Pearse Stadium at 12.40, entered Stand via Sect "F", great seat, enjoyed the first game between Tommy Larkins and Ballindereen, and of course the senior final, what a show by Portumna , roll on St Patricks Day !!.
Had a great seat between 2 Port men on my left and a Loughrea man on my right, and a bunch of Ballindereen supporters in front of me along with Port supporters to their right.
Left after Presentation, walked back to Salthill via Park, got Taxi at Roundabout to Eyre SQ, ( 15.00 this time), traffic, had tea in Garveys Htl, 18.15 train back to Heuston, Luas to Busarus, 22.00 hrs bus to Newry, arr at 23.30, home at 00.15 hrs. What a day !!! Hope those two Portumna supporters and my Loughrea friend read this , they made my day, it's what the GAA is all about. where is the Connaught football final next Sunday, someone said Tuam, is that correct. Thanks again to all for a good day.

Newbie2 , Yes Tommy Larkins played very well, after 10 mins thought it was going to be a rout, some great scores, and like the way they responded when Ballindereen ( and their No 12 Sheehan in particular) came back at them in the 2nd half.
Your Captain and No 14 Eamon Hayes played very well I thought.
In the senior game, apart from Damien and Joe for Portumna for Portumna, thought young Nial ( or is it Neil) Keary had a great game, and is certainly one for the future, his freetaking was exceptional, and played a big part in Loughreas goal.
In all, I enjoyed both games, years since I have been to Salthill or Galway City.
