New managers..

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Well John Wynne is the new EO manager. Assisted by Jimmy Dooley and Colm Hayden. Talking with people within the club, they seem happy with this choice. Reckon John will get respect and Jimmy will sort out the backs while Rooster will bring a more direct approach to the forwards. I'd have preferred an outsider aka a Bobby Miller type. Like i was saying there last week actually before i was meant to have known..oops! Turlough was to be approved as co minor manager at tonights co board meeting. I assume it happened, but haven't heard yet.

Pockets is clearly Bowsey who has gone to the trouble to sign up again under a new name and email address which shows how obsessive the loon is. 12 posts, all of them on Carlow board and claims to be from Cavan?

Ignore the troll.

Joe Murphy said he would be back with Old Leighlin for 2010 after this years county final and the job is his.Eoin Garvey is going to hurl with N.Brid next year.I have not been on this site for a while but there seems to be a lot of rubbish on it.

Graigue are going to make a call on the management sitituationin the next few weeks , there wouldnt be any truth in Hickey getting the Kilmacud job dont no where that came from....Rumours has it that an ex Carlow legend is in talks about getting the job if Hickey goes....Its a big job for any man with the pressure that comes with it even though success has eluded the club for years at senior level....Very good young team though so theres potential just about getting the best of them i suppose...O"Brien is the Carlow minor manager think thats all but comfirmed...Interesting to see who gets The Blues job alot of rebuilding needs to be done but i shouldnt see any reason why they shouldnt become a force again within the next 4or5 years time...

laverty i think u shud stay out of this debate because it is clear u are just stirring it!! he did a gud job last year even if he did get it wrong in the final and if the players are willing to commit again, old leghlin will give it a good go again next year!!

What would Bealin cost Graig a night, and having seen some and heard some of what he did with county team cant say that he would be a man I would like to see manage my club. REgards Myshall the answer is with the players. A current county player told me that county training went up a few notches on the nights when one of the players mentioned wanted it in particular. Every team has to be guided by the manager but led by players. Managers dont "make any tackles" as Declan Kidney said the other day. The vast majority of guys on the manager merrygoround know the basics drills etc, (there is of course a difference in standard in delivery) but its "not rocket science" (Brian Cody). Winning teams have influential leaders all over the pitch and not just when the row breaks out in front of a crowd at a quarter final. They lead in training, matches, attitude etc etc.

What a loada tripe. Physical training etc. was laid out 1 month in advance and every session planned in detail 1 week in advance. No player decided or dictated when things 'went up or down a notch'.

As a Graigue man im delighted we"ve got a high profile manager , ive heard a few people saying he didnt do a great job with Carlow but sure that doesnt mean he cant be a great manager for Graigue...We needed a manager who has played at the top level because its such a young team in Graigue not saying they"ll become county champ"s over night or anything , but with someone of his backround im sure he"ll try cut out simple errors that cost us in our defeats to Ballylinan and St Joes in the championship this year...I felt both of those games could of been won if management got selection right and quicker to make changes!!! Willy Qunlain was in with a big shout to become manager any club would be lucky to have him , Eire Og should consider bringing him into the senior management team!!!

i just can't get over the talk of paul bealin for the graigue job. ask anyone in monasterevin beaten finalists in 2008 they bring in bealin and nearly get relegated couldn't win a game in the group stages. nothing against him but wouldn't inspire confidence.

So YOUGOTIT you're telling me that even down in your own club, or at any club training session when the perceived leaders up their own effort others don't react? I was told that about the county set up by a county player? I am sure the two of us could lay down a months work of physical training, drills etc on paper, but they don't play matches on paper. Players have to buy in, and how influential characters in any dressing room react is crucial to the success of a team.
