I may be paraphrasing my wife. She wouldn't offend the little dears ears.

Yes but the schools hands are effectively tied as if the "students" appeal they generally get back into the school courtesy of some liberal judge.
Also the onus is on the school to find an alternative source of education for the student, which is lovely in good schools, but where the wife works is a VEC school and they are duty bound to cater to all students and therefore cannot get rid.

Fair play to them they should strike longer and the nurses should do the same as the likes of kenny and gilmore get big money and claim expenses and bluffing the country.

Don't forget to bring your brolly with yiz as it looks like yiz might be in for some rain :) I'd say many of yiz wouldn't know what it's like to spend a day out in the wind and rain.

I always thought teachers who gave out about the lack of discipline in their classes might as well have just said "I'm not very good at my job"..

Should school teachers again decide to (LOCKOUT) the school children on Dec 3rd or indeed any subsequent date then I honestly believe that it will be the angry parents of the children that they will have to face. If teachers think for one minute that parents will stand idly by whilst they (teachers)use their kids as pawns they are mistaken and therefore I suggest that teachers think again. Protesting is one thing but both bullying and blackmail are all-together different scenarios and will not be tolerated. Ye made your point with today's protest and ye may have got a certain amount of sympathy from people today however if you think that by engaging in a prolonged and sustained campaign ye will reap rewards your greatly mistaken. Any sympathy ye had today will fast evaporate if ye continue to pursue any campaign which will have a detrimental effect on this countries school kids and their education. Be wise is the message I would send out to teachers today, before you awaken the sleeping giant that is the fair minded people of this country. Your protest is not one which the majority of Joe public are fully supportive of. On your own your protest would last no time and don't forget that. From my own perspective I see the teachers themselves being used (made paws of) by their own Unions merely to bolster the campaign of other workers in the public service sector. If the cops and nurses get what they are after then ye will be told by your unions back to work now like good people and ye will be then be left to paddle your own canoe.

BartleDoo, i didn't think you had any sympathy for the teachers at all judging from your previous posts !! You hid it very well !! What would you like the teachers or any of the Public sector to do ? Roll over and beg ? The Govt and their cronies are at fault for the state of the country, not the Public Sector !! Yu don't seem to grasp that !!

"You should try teaching the kids at home yourself."

If it weren't for the efforts both myself and my wife put in at home with our kids I refer here in particular to our children who attend national school our children would know nothing other than how to colour make false faces, make cards etc etc. All the maths, all the reading, all the Irish all the spellings to name but a few subjects are learned at home. Parents/guardians are the key imo to whatever knowledge and education our children have acquired.

The amount of homework our kids get at night is a testament of where our children get the vast majority of their schooling. So don't you tell me that I or any other parent/guardian should try teaching our kids at home.

BartleDoo are you telling me that the only reason your kids go to school is the "Legal Obligation" we,as parents, have in ensuring they get a proper education. And as for your claim that your kids would learn "nothing other than how to colour make false faces, make cards etc etc."........if this is the case I would give serious consideration to moving the kids to another school.
