How was it drinking with rabbid loyalists?

In the McDermott's Club? It was a Wednesday night, most of them would have been at the soccer that night.

Thank you Che.

However, and I do not wish to deflate you, but I was a MEMBER of the N.Ireland supporters club, so.................

Sorry if that shatters the illusion.

I once drank in the McDermott's GAA club on the Fall's Road. Now that does require cojones.

Ah come on now patrique, we'd welcome you with open arms!! speaking of arms somebody liberated the m1 we held just in case we needed to visit the rangers club!!
And on a completely different point altogether we're the only belfast team to win a hurling league this year!! Following on from the various annexing of juvenile championships by belfast clubs, who said belfast hurling is struggling!!

But Belfast Clubs did win three out of 5 championships.

I was at the U21 final on Friday when Rossa beat Dunloy. Hurling is far from dead in the city.

And you will probably find that out of that number, not one was actually written by his own fair hand, likes to cut and paste or 'tag' a lot does our tomaoo, as well as plagiarising others, I know I caught him out fair and square with one of my own. He reminds me of one of those little greasy sidekicks you see at the side of a Louisiana sheriff, usually called 'Bubba'! ........................I see now said the blind man.............

I salute Thomas St George McCarthy and commend him for the legacy that he gave us all! There is nothing as sure as Mayo and Dublin wont win the Ireland next year than thatsome will continue with their sectarian bile and Patrique will continue to be "all things to all people". O Gall, Islandeady is a small place, I have a couple of friends who live there. Thankfully they do not share the same views as you do, but we live in a democracy and you are entitled to have your say, however obnoxious the majority views it. I find your crass generalisations are so anti the ideals of the GAA that I am almost tempted to 'out' you. This is easy done! Your attempts to have any smidgen of serious debate should be treated with the contempt they deserve and people should ignore you. However ignorance is bliss and you will contiue along with your fellow cronies.

david09 County: Kildare Posts: 79 483919 omaghredhand you might live in northern ireland and i may live in the republic but for you to think you need to educate me is a funny .you people up there are the ones that are confused with your past you need to take the blinkers off.their was victims from all sides i have never allowed republicans to brainwash me and my thoughts from a young age i have always being aware of the north and the problems that exist in it.maybe you should educate yourself with books from the other side.you being a civil servant is being 2 faced. Sorry it took so long to reply David. What is so funny about your need for education? The fact that you do not see the requirement to put a capital letter at the start of a sentence speaks volumes, never mind your incorrect use of the word "their" I can assure you that I am not one bit confused with my past or that of this little state I live in. I can also assure you that I am quite aware of the suffering that has went on, on both sides. I was reared in a loyalist housing estate and therefore quite a number of my friends were and still are from the "other side" as you so eloquently put it. I have read quite extensively books from all political opinions and am quite capable of making up my own mind. I am not for one second a brainwashed republican and it shows your extreme naivety that you suggest that I am. It is easier to live history than to read it. My experiences are real, I have lived through them so there are no blinkers, only reality. Finally, your coupe de grace is fantastic. How prey tell am I two faced for being a civil servant? Is it because I have a republican outlook? Is it because I am Catholic? If it is for one of these two reasons then I would suggest that you are past educating. I am qualified to do the job and do it well and provide my services to all members of the community who need it to the best of my ability.

Having just finished reading this thread,a lot of it would make you dispair! I grew up watching atrocity after atrocity on the news and that was bad enough. Im lucky enough not to have had to live in the middle of it.My son is 10 yrs old and thankfully he has no real grasp of the 30 odd yrs of murder and mayhem the rest of us watched at in horror on a daily basis. He is learning the history of our nation at school etc and i think he has a reasonably good grasp for a lad of his age. 1916,the war of independance, civil war...his great grandad fought the black and tans. The incident that caught his attention recently was the murder of the soldiers collecting their pizza outside the gate of the barracks. It was embarrassing trying to explain the actions of these people who want to drag the country back to a time before my son was born,it is stomach churning to think they might succeed,i told my son there would be no more wars in Ireland,i hope i was right.
I've never been to the North, but i'd like to visit. As someone who is up to his tonsils in the GAA ( hurling ) i'd like to bring my young lad ( hurling fanatic ) and his clubmates up North for a few games etc. I believe we'll have a united Ireland in the not too distant future,as it stands we are all members of the GAA.Thats united us for the last 125 yrs.

483186 Chainsaw, another mighty read by Mr Fahy, unfortunately he has plenty of material to work with. It tells the story of two innocent men murdered on their way back from watching Derry and Dublin in the All Ireland semi

I choose this particular book because a lot of posters here from the south including myself could have no idea what it was like to live up there during that dreadful time . But most people could relate to two GAA men on their way to big game in Croker I was at that particular game myself but had forgotten who Derry played and the youngest of the two men in question was exactly my own age. Seamus Heaney's 2nd poem in memory of his dead cousin is a favorite poem of mine now that I know what its about.

Pullhaard,

Id agree with a lot of your comments, however the first six words of the above paragraph really say it all to be honest. Belfast is only a couple of hundred miles up the road yet to a lot of southerners its like visiting the moon.

Pulhaard: you should go and see a couple of games up north. I saw a game in Derry, it was a right hoot! The weather was awful but the game was pretty good. And that was before Celtic Park was re-furbed. Was an experience it has to be said, the toilets were hilariously basic!

Horse, of course you visit a quare bit. You'll hardly buy as much cheap booze, food and the like in Portlaoise, which is by the way the most dreary town I've ever had the misfortune to visit
