Colin Holmes - Thank you very much

(Oldest Posts First)

I would like to thank Colin Holmes for his contribution to Tyrone football. He was a utility player of some standing and along with doing a job in midfield also did a job in the full back line beforehand. He did'nt look for glory but just got on with his job like a true professional. It will be a loss to Tyrone not to have such a player on standby, the safe hands, the calm head, the experienced head. How easy would it have been to walk away when he was not getting a starting berth. He did'nt - he has 3 all-irelands and has earned&deserves them all. Well done Colin, enjoy your retirement.

Here Here,
Thanks alot Colin, a job well done at the top for 13years is it.
3 celtic crosses isnt a bad haul
I fear that this is the begining of a few more retirements over the next few years however I think there is plenty coming behind to fill the gaps

A great Servant to tyrone football, for a man who was in and out of the team more than most he never once complained or caused any trouble, thought he played 2 great games coming from the bench in 2005 against armagh in the semi and caught some good ball against kerry in the final.
Thanks Collie you will be missed.

Well done Collie you'll be sorely missed and a replacement won't be that easy to find. Good luck with the club football, career and family.

Colin Holmes, a great servant of tyrone football.

This man always wore the jersey with pride and would play anywhere on the field for his team. Give 100% to every match he played and didnt get the recognition he really truely deserved.
Unfortunate that he left moy in acrimonious circumstances but theats the way the cookie crumbles. What was tyrone club footballs loss was armaghs gain.

Would love to see him in the colours of the tir na nogs again some day and now he can concentrate 100% on the harps, his family and maybe just play a wee bit of soccer for riverdale!

I second ur remarks Mr Currie - Homesy done us so prod- a legend in my eyes- as been said before the man would av played in any position and near enof did- an absolute gentleman af the pitch and a pure tank on it- hardy man give it his all- it was a sad day for me when he left the moy, still doesnt sit easy with me how we lost such a player- he was immense at club level-and wen u got him and mini 2 play an absolute joy 2 watch-aww the good days- how strong we wud av bn if he was still there- I really hope he'll come back- theres no time like the present. Collie u derseve every accolade u get G luck with the rest- wudnt it just be an dream ending to finish wat u started-back to the Moy!!

Well Done Collie always solid for tyrone, To comment on K Curries comment. If collie was ever to dawn a Moy Jersey you would have to think this would be the year to do that if not it could be 2 late. Armagh Harps came so close this year so I could only see him trying to make the next step with them although would love to see him back in Tyrone club football

An unsung hero in my opinion, might not have got the recognition of other star performers in the Tyrone squad but was every bit as valuable.Good luck in your retirement Colin.

Collie Holmes has been a great servant to Tyrone football (and Armagh club football)lol and I wish him the best of luck in the future. He was always the bridesmaid and never the bride for Tyrone and a very hard worker. BTW does anyone know why he stopped playin' for the Moy and started playin' for Armagh Harps? I read somewhere that it was because he was workin' in Armagh but that's like saying "your man moved from Edendork to the Clarkes because he moved to Dungannon." I mean Armagh to the Moy is no distance! All eyes will be on Dooher now. Personally I think he has another year in him, if Harte uses him like he used Canavan towards the end of his time. You know, first 20 minutes, last 20 minutes. Plus he's a good man to have about any squad.

to comment on where it says,
"BTW does anyone know why he stopped playin' for the Moy and started playin' for Armagh Harps?"

there was a fall out when his dad was the manager.. enough said!! The club still regret it to this day.
