i wud agree that ground hurling is a dying art.for the past 3 months if a ball is played on the ground it would travel 50-60 yds no bother.when was the last time we saw a decent goal scored off the ground by anyone.i wud also agree with the 11-12 aside games being a waste.thet give fellas a false sense of how good they actually are, these games are no better than 7 a side.1 other thing politics was always involvd in limerick and it will never change, names still mean a lot when it comes to selection!!!!! hectork (Limerick) - Posts: 1049 - 29/06/2010 12:27:56 690715 Link 0 |
11 and 12 aside games are a waste and when players step up a standard from them they get lost especially a greedy player because he will be to familar with going for his own score with all the space he has in 12 aside so when he reaches 15 aside he doesnt know what to do under pressure. the only advantage is that the small clubs can fill these teams a keep players interested in hurling until senior level because if they went to neighbouring clubs the might be left a sub because of the big number and then they may quite and that doesnt help small clubs either. it gives players that are week at hurling but with alot of interest to play the game because at a bigger club the may not get a chance. limerickeye (Limerick) - Posts: 38 - 29/06/2010 13:14:57 690798 Link 0 |

lim 10 i wudn,t go as far as sayn they deserved to be beatn.i,m glad though that somone else mentined the politics, until all the favoritism and the pickn of players on name is gone we will not succeed in limerick.the best hurlers were not picked on this panel this year. hectork (Limerick) - Posts: 1049 - 01/07/2010 14:14:36 693235 Link 0 |

123 fed up last december the city were the best team, they beat the south easilyand was 9 points up with 10min to go against the west when the city management made 10 changes destroying the game and the city losing by a point.when the panel of 45 was picked ,there was 16 from the east and 9 from the city.these numbers dont add up. i attended the undr 17 games last dec and i mite be wrong but i don,t rember hegarty being present.yes the city were the best team and yes only for the changes made wud have won very easy.if people take a look at the programme from minor game the city had 4 from a panel of 24,while 7 players on panel from west.in limerick also they don,t want to pick good undr 16s and a lot of the better hurlers in the undr 17 competition were undr 16.are we the only county that does this? hectork (Limerick) - Posts: 1049 - 02/07/2010 11:50:45 694081 Link 0 |
Yes the city were the best team and were only givin player's a run in the last 10mins of that match against the west because they knew they were the best team and maybe would of thought they would have alot of the city lads on the panel, however in limerick you dont just make the team if your a good hurler, players are picked because their known and until this is sorted them limerick hurling is going to be the same for some time yet lim_10 (Limerick) - Posts: 7 - 02/07/2010 13:40:40 694230 Link 0 |

who are these city players who should have made the squad? mr.gaa (Limerick) - Posts: 8 - 02/07/2010 15:18:34 694382 Link 0 |
the players i wud be talkn bout are shane kenny(b/brown)then the other players are all under 16s,hannigan,mullins(st pats)diarmaid dee(mungret)barry o connell(k/dimo)bryan griffin(b/brown).lets face it clare had jamie shanahan at wing forward(scored 2 points)and this player is under 16.do people in this county believe that tipp, cork or k/kenny wud not pick a 16 year old because he is to young.if a player is good enough he is old enough.of course this rule you will be told is protecting players but if i rember last year shane dowling played minor while undr 16 and declan hannon came on in 21 disaster against clare even though he was only 17.do people agree or disagree with what i am saying? hectork (Limerick) - Posts: 1049 - 02/07/2010 17:36:53 694526 Link 0 |

Shane Fitzgibbon may not be ratified by the clubs if his name is put forward as minor manager. Sandy_Lane (Limerick) - Posts: 32 - 07/07/2010 16:22:38 699570 Link 0 |
