Surely if a team can blame a pitch it proves they are not gd enuf!! If they have a bad day it also means they are not gd enuf as championship is all about on the day ridiculous statement

your a bitter man footballskin and I agree with the rest of the lads. No 1 from annaghdown or M/B looks quite bad. The teams that get to county finals deserve to be there. Look at mountbellew in senior for example who had bad league form but still played good championship football and deserved to be in senior county final. Excuses gets you nowhere like blamin pitches or injuries. Either your good enough or not on the day and a "good team" will have a good panel which will cover injurues

eire89 is one of the first men to complain about the u21 panel so i'll take it as he is one of the people who didnt make it and outsideman has made two posts so i take it your from anna or MB and won't waste my time trying to explain my previous post to you

Damo Red is in collage in Liverpool. Only for that he would have been a shoe in for panel spot.

How can people talk about politics in galway football. Alan Mulholland was the manager of the minors 3 years ago who won an all ireland . not 1 player from his club was represented on the field that day. pretty fair i would say. when i was involved with some north board county managers they always pulled for their own. Maybe thats why they won the minor 3 years ago. A certain guy who will remain nameless managed the u21s in 87 , 88 and 89 . he blew at least 2 all irelands . put galway football first my arse. he wanted personal glory and took the team from 86 and wrecked it. At least they gave alan mulholland his team back to try again. He deserves it.

People should stop posting rubbish about Alan Mulholland and politics in the selection of the U-21 panel. He is a top drawer manager, who deserves more respect after all he has done for Galway football. The very fact that he has formally organised his panel at this early stage is indicative of how well the set up is going to be run. If you compare this to the last four years of dismal preparation and limp, tame displays under the hands of Stephen Joyce, and last year under Sammon, we should be thankful that Alan is in charge.

I noticed not many from the west side of Galway......Yet id put money on that one of them will win the county club U 21 this year coming...

yes a team might win the championship but we are looking for players not teams that have done well so are automatically entitled to have players represented. the players are their becuse they showed up well in trials or have proved themselves in the past. whether a west team wins u21 well thats for a different post but shouldnt mean theyre entitled to representation-has no logic.

Stephen Kerr unfortunately has had a terrible run of bad injuries since u-16. He played the Minor final 3 years ago with a torn hamstring. Ufortunately he is just one of those players with great skill and potential but unlucky with injuries. Footballskin we (Annaghdown) had to play are first three championship games in bad weather, in terrible pithes (Barnaderg), with a very depleted squad, ( Matthias Coleman, Noel Burke, Stephen Kerr injured) and we still went all the way. We didnt win any game by more than a 2 points, and we had to go extra time in our first game against M/M (good Team) and it took a last second goal to win the North final against Corofin. We beat what was put in front of us, thats all we could do, and if we are not the best team in U-21 this year, what are we? This message is directed towards Footballskin.

Lads the amount of complaining at every underage panel that is picked in Galway is crazy. The managers will pick the players that they think are best and thats the bottom line. If a player is picked he's there for a reason, if a plyer isn't its for a reason. They're only young lads, lets get behind them instead of lambasting their achievements. Good luck and well done to all the panel.

has anybody else noticed how much brian boyle has come in in recent years?....he was close to making the 07 minors and has only improved since...he commands the full back line for cortoon and deserves a fair trial for the u21s.
