Galway U21 2010

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Galway 88 O'Haloran and Duane aswell as Breathnach were minor in 2009 and wil be 19 in 2010 for the Galway under 21 team. No Steede? 1. Bernard Power. Where was he in 2007? he started for Corofin seniors last year when they got to AI semi was impressive. Plays more than Higgins who hasnt been a keeper in approx 2 years. Breathnach might have a case though 2.Jonathan Duane/Eanna Glynn. 3.Colin Forde. solid player. 4.Keith Kelly. Hows his form with Ballinasloe? 5.Conor Doherty. plays as a forward for Tuam Stars so mightnt be selected here 6.Damien O'Reilly. superb player 7.Tom Fahy. 8.Paul Conroy. Captain 9.Anthony Griffin. 10.Michael Martin. (started here last year) 11.JJ Greaney. Could go to full. 12.Ronan Steede/John O'Brien dunno what his form is like recently..only back playing intermediate with Clifden. 13.Jonathan Ryan. 14.??No main full forward only Greaney really. Who am i leaving out?? 15.Danny Cummins. Near the team: Coady(started corner forward last year so has strong case),O'Halloran,Hansberry,Tommy Walsh. Why is Reddington not on the panel?

Annaghdown have Enda Mullarkey he should be on it definitely. Breathnachs did not have any 2007 minors so im not surprised they have no one on it. Just had an all round good team this year. Killalin have walsh from 2007 but hes not good enough. Surprised that the Sweeneys esp the full forward Patrick were not called up?

There are a lot of players that are on this panel that i dont know about, polotics playing its part like usual with a few others. This is my opinion of a team: 1. Bernard Power (Corofin) 2. Eanna Glynn (Caherlistrane) ** 3. Colin Forde (Killererin) ** 4. Keith Kelly (Ballinasloe) ** or Jonathan Duane (St. James) 5. Declan Rhattigan (Dunmore McHales) * 6. Damien O'Reilly (Uachtar Ard) ** 7. Tomas Fahy (Killererin) ** 8. Anthony Griffin (Lettermore) ** 9. Paul Conroy (St James) (C) ** 10. John O'Brien (Clifden) ** 11. Conor Doherty (Tuam Stars) ** 12. Martin Coady (Uachtar Ard) * 13. Danny Cummins (Claregalway) 14. Michael Martin (Cortoon) ** 15. Jonathon Ryan (Kilkerrin-Clonberne) ** Subs: 16. Keith Kelly (Ballinasloe) ** or Jonathan Duane (St. James) 17. Conor O'Halloran (Salthill/Knocknacarra) 18. Brian Moran (Claregalway) 19. Sean Gavin (Salthill/Knocknacarra) 20. David Hansberry (Killererin) 21. Tommy Walsh (Renvyle) ** 22. Jamie Burke (St. James) * 23. Joe Greaney (Uachtar Ard) ** 24. Rory Gaffney (Tuam Stars) 25. Aonghus Tierney (Tuam Stars) 26. Kevin Conlon (Salthill/Knocknacarra) * 27. Maghnus Breathnach (Spiddal) 28. Michael Boyle (Killererin) 29. Michael Kelly (Caltra) 30. Rory O'Neill (Monivea-Abbey) * 31. Nathan King (Ballinasloe) * these are all the players that wher on the All Ireland winning minor panel in '07 (Im sure there's more but i don't know them all) ** players starting in that All Ireland Final Players who where on that panel that haven't made this panel: Oisin O'Brien (Caherlistrane) - Injured Owen Higgins (Corofin) Ronan Buke (Corofin) Lorcan Coneely (Renvyle) Damien Reddington Conor Hoctor (St.Michaels) E. O'Mahony John Devine

Poor show from connemara lads. One from spiddal and from lettermore. none from Carraroe, Breathnachs, Barna, Moycullen, Carna or Na piarsaigh. All dese clubs footballing strongholds if this board was to be believed. Well dis panel puts ye in ur place. No more nonsense on dis board from ye please!

jj99 - I agree with you. Mulholland won an All-Ireland with this bunch of lads (+/- a few) 3 years ago. He opened up the trails to every club. Think it was over four Sundays. He can only pick 30 players. Let's give him our backing. We're disappointed one of our lads didn't make the team but so be it. Good luck to Alan and his team next year.

Must be a very strong panel if Steede is left out, whats the story with Reddington? I could see a All-Ireland in this bunch.

steede, silke, burke and farragher from corofin will be called up. this i would think is no where near the final panel. a good few changes to be made yet. silke and steede are shoe-ins for the team.

I am very surprised Ronan Steede and Patrick Sweeney didnt make it.
Still a few surprise inclusions and exclusions.

And again it shows that us north clubs are better than the city & west with the majority of the panel from the north!

GAA15 all of your comments have been very negative which isn't really what we want on this post.

Reddington is class will never forget the goal he scored to win the 07 minor, a natural old fashioned corner forward.

Imo there isn't enough scoring power in that team to win Connacht never mind the AI.
Looking back to 2007 - Martin & Reddington did most of the scoring in Croke Park.
Neither has kicked on from there though. Martin hasn't been playing well since while Reddington is not on the panel now.Looking at the squad now it's hard to see where our scores will come from. I hope I'm wrong though. It would be great to see us win Connacht at least this year as it's been 4 years since we got out of the province.
