if you actually read the official guide (it is easily downloaded via google) rule 6.22(5). (C) applies to CHAMPIONSHIPS that consist of a league/group stage.
score difference had no bearing on us ending up in the relegation playoffs last year. we were relegated despite finishing on 12 points yet clan na gael are safe on 11 points this year and with a game to spare too. i'd say 12 points would be enough in 9 years out 10 years. hopefully our luck changes on sunday.

Harp - if YOU actually read the Tyrone regulations YOU would see that they are adapting rule 6.22(5). (C) of the official guide to the Tyrone league regulations to decide positions

maybe if these things were published better in the media then players would actually know what they are playing for. rules are changed and it seems to be all hush hush.

does this mean that 1st place in the league can also decided by this new rule or does it just apply to playoffs. what would happen if killyman and stewartstown ended level on points? bear in mind stewartstown beat killyman in their previous league meeting.

Yes Harp it would also apply to Killyman and youse to decide the winners if you both finished level. As to your earlier post about clubs not knowing about these changes, thats what your Co rep and and Secretary are for ie informing clubs of any changes made to rules at the start of each year. I was aware of this from the start of the season through it being reported at a committee meeting way back in March

has that rule just been passed this year, because i know in the past any teams finishing level with regards to playoffs have had to have a playoff?

If it is true then i think it is the wrong way to go about it because of the starred system we use because for example:
a) What if Kileeshil and Aghaloo had have been a starred game, and Kileeshil were missing Hub when they lost the game, is it fair that they should be relegated based on a result where the were not allowed to field their best player? (I know this didnt happen, but it could easily have been the case involving any of the teams with county men)

b) If the fixtures worked against you at the start of the year and you played all the teams with county players at full strength and loose while the team you ended up level with has some or all of those teams as starred games and win those games, and won the head to head, they have picked up easier points, and in that case I think the only fair thing to do is to have a head to head play-off.

100% agree with you wombot, this rule is seriously flawed, only fair way to do it is a play-off game.

if these new rules are supposed to be in place how come there was no league trophy presented in stewartstown yesterday?. looks like the harps need 1 more point to be sure of title.

No trophies will be presented until all games are played eventhough S'town cannot be caught

Decent season for the Plunketts, third highest scorers, it was the defence that let us down. We really should have finished second in the League but were complacent against small teams like Augher, Newtownstewart, Urney etc. that ultimately cost us in the end. If we sort out the mistakes we'll be there next season, perhaps it's for the best that our young players get another season in Intermediate football but it is rather depressing knowing that we'll be playing the same dross again next season

We showed how wee the Rock were when we beat them without getting out of second gear. It was like a practise game

killyman can still catch s'town sure if they win their next 2 games and s'town slip up against owen roes which is highly unlikely, whats this talk bout these teams that draw level do not have to playoff no more its rubbish that rule if true. not really fair if it comes down to previous meetings considering one team will always get the advantage of playing at home in these games!

The season has drawn to a close, a strange season in many ways. Who was the best player/players you seen play this year? ciaran gervin from derrylaugh looked class in all games i seen him play, eglish big midfielder not sure of his name was brilliant in a few games, can catch, score and has a massive engine. i was very impressed with kevin mossey from gortin, killeeshil full forward mc kenna played very well against clan na gael in the chamionship looks very strong and was great at winning the ball. mooretowns wing half forward, small ginger lad is great at setting up play, most of mooretowns attack goes through him, use his brain to do the work. there has been many others but who have you seen?

it was the defence that let us down? that would be your number one problem there. in any good team, you dont go blamin other people, and in any good team your forwards would have been working their asses of to defend aswell witch clearly wasnt the case
