pal didnt play in leinster junior club last year cause the fixture clashed with senior football final replay, the exact same thing happened the previous year, the year before pal played bray emmets and year before that was the belmont and galmoy games

I have a few idea's for carlow hurling to develop

1. every gaa club in carlow should be encouraged to have a junior hurling team. From which divisional teams could be formed to create senior sides so as to give a outlet to players who want to play at a higher level. thus having a higher number of players in the counties
2. looks at the standard of underage coaches in the hurling clubs. then up skill the coaches its a must.
3. Hurling in carlow town has to be really looked at hard. its definitely not producing enough hurlers for the size of the population. we defintely need to overhaul the current club and the county board should encourage another club in the town
4. we should have a colleges team playing in the leinster A + Bagnelstown.
5. I am a bit dubious about the new center of excellence its a good idea do we need to be putting ourselves in such debt when better strategy and application of games development and player development would provide better results for a fraction of the price. THE REAL resource is not a 5 pitch training grounds but the players who fill it.
6. Marketing of Carlow GAA is very poor. THe Carlow GAA website is very poor just go look at the www.kilkennygaa.ie and compare we are light years away. this is just one aspect. Also we should be targeting the national school kid with trying to instill the pride of being from carlow and pride of playing for carlow county,]

we have a small GAA brother hood in Carlow this is a advantages. its just trying to tap up every bit of talent available and not let it disappear. i think we have let it slip at minor hurling level next year is massive.

what do you reckon?

all good points alrite.. Dunno bout how the divisional sides would work. I suppose one of the problems in carlow town hurling club at the minute is trying to organise it around several fball clubs. entering a team in junior at least by every fball club is an idea i mentioned before and would endorse that. Getting the coaches coursed is ongoing i hope. The colleges a will have to include the dela salle. The arent that good on their own to work in a realistically, and the without them the pick is very small if you go by the letter of the law. Minor talent is there still, but lack of commitment. Had a few more given their commitment, a leinster semi was there again this year gone.. All good points and i think we need to keep things going.

Yes De La Salle only has around 340 pupils whereas Tullow CS have 800 or 900. So we need to promote hurling there, as rugby is taking over.

Something has to be done about hurling in the north of this county, its a disgrace. Carlow Town has to be wound down and a new team set up in the town, and a new team out the country to cover Pal, Rathvilly, Hacketstown etc.

yeah as a small county we need to get as many as possible playing hurling at every level. Carlow town shud only cater for the 3 town fball clubs, that is enough of a fixture/training headache. If things were as the shud be, there shud be a second club in the town, but thats not goin to happen. The rest of the clubs should be asked to field at some grade alrite. But this isnt being done. To compete realistically in the leinster champ we need more talent to work with.

Who beat them and by what bib? Remember underage standards go up and down in schools clubs all the time, however to be fair to Borris they have consistently competed at a good level over the last ten years.

Will you go away with that? Borris were robbed. Typical of the way we are treated here. I know, I was at the game.
