I just caught the end of the sports news on LMFM and it seems the clubs are going to vote on whether to extend the senior championship. men_of_49 (Meath) - Posts: 2015 - 08/12/2009 11:17:41 506986 Link 0 |
I spoke to our clubs county board delegate this morning and he said the championship will be restructured and no one will be relegated. qprmeath (None) - Posts: 434 - 08/12/2009 12:14:39 507030 Link 0 |

I tink Rathkenny have been thrown out of the championship becoz they didnt play on sunday and were fined also. They are goin to appeal this and they wil also have to see the outcome of the vote on the 4th of Jan. Stillsenior (Meath) - Posts: 125 - 09/12/2009 00:40:26 508070 Link 0 |
the meath offical web site shows a result; ie. walterstown w/o rathkenny scr. if this is the official line[???] i assume walterstown remain seinor where as rathkenny will now be fixed to play dul/bew or be religated for failure to field v walterstown. royler (Meath) - Posts: 294 - 09/12/2009 10:22:13 508142 Link 0 |
Someone has to get relegated, simple as. Fabio Capello (Meath) - Posts: 174 - 09/12/2009 10:38:23 508154 Link 0 |
I'd say the majority of clubs will support Rathkenny's proposal of an enlarged SFC for next year. theblindassasin (Meath) - Posts: 915 - 09/12/2009 12:34:42 508279 Link 0 |
Just on a point of clarification. It was not proposed by Rathkenny. It was proposed by a delegate from Dunsany. R_Kenny (Meath) - Posts: 40 - 09/12/2009 12:52:56 508296 Link 0 |

Ye have to agree with kit, put them both down and play 3 groups of 5 next year. Both teams are poor . Simpily not up up to senior football. Rathkenny won 3 out of 11 games in division 2 leauge, which proves they cant even beat average intermidiate teams regulary. St michaels and Dunderry finished ahead of them in the leauge divsion 2. Hammered in the feis cup against a blackhall team with 3 or 4 second team players playing that day. Walterstown won four from eleven in the leauge. They exited the feis cup early aswell. Im not saying leauge results should relegate teams from championship, but just pointing out that your not up to senior football. Lads both teams would be better off going down and rebuilding, although i dont see much hope for that either as underage has been poor in both clubs for at least 8 years now. takeyourpoints1 (Meath) - Posts: 17 - 09/12/2009 18:05:51 508682 Link 0 |
This is a total sham that Rathkenny have been thrown out. They have done nothing wrong. They beat Walterstown fair and square and Walterstown then go into the book to try and win a match. In 2007 when Walterstown were playing Kilmainhamwood in the religation play-off in Kilberry, Walterstown won the match After Extra Time and we didn't here them complaining then. And the Wood got on with it and beet Ballinlouch in the Religation-Final.If Rathkenny end up in Intermediate next year,it will be all Walterstown's falt. 12Royal (Meath) - Posts: 987 - 09/12/2009 18:14:12 508698 Link 0 |

three groups of five is the best way to solve this and it will also stop these stupid appeals!! keegancup3 (Meath) - Posts: 22 - 09/12/2009 22:31:26 509133 Link 0 |
look everybody ive a feeling this is not over, ive a feeling this is going to the DRA after which the championship will be restructured with 17 teams next year including rathkenny, and with 2 teams relegated next year, rathkenny with their abysmal senior record, and walterstown if their poor attitude to training throughout the year is the same as this year, they will both go down anyway, the county board could save all the messing now and just restructure the champioship and everybody can have a happy christmas The.Rock (Meath) - Posts: 582 - 10/12/2009 08:28:40 509390 Link 0 |
