Who will be relegated and when ?

Fabio, Just having a quick look on the Meath Gaa website would indicate that Rathkenny have -36 scoring in the championship so far and walterstown have -21. Dunleek Bellewstown have a win but have also played a game extra so i presume you could take that win as null and void so that all 3 teams would be considered on 4 championship games. Dunleek also have a -25 scoring difference and if you take out there win then that will obviously become worse. Therefore you would be left with Rathkenny & Dunleek. I dont think this would be very fair on Rathkenny. Been following it since it first broke and cant believe its not sorted out yet. The county coard would all want to be replaced this year. What is the point in going back to Croke Park again? Its a shamble having uneven groups anyway. Why has it been uneven all along when there could have been an even split of 4 groups of 4?

I was asked how relagation would be dealt with if there were 3 groups of 6 in the near future. The setup being used at the moment was used last year and ran almost perfectly without hitch. I think the system we have at the moment is fair, the county board just made a mess of the relagation situation this year. In relation to the 4 groups of 4, if a team loses its first game, its under serious pressure to win both their final games and the current setup offers players more games.

They are going back to croker because they don't want to ruffle any feathers in Walterstown or Rathkenny, they are weasling out.

Sorry Jross i only had a quick glance at the table and missed the fact that dunleek had drawn a game. I believe that their win should not count however as they played an extra game than the other two teams. Basically i was saying Dunleeks best result should be counted null and void. However the fact that they drew means that they would still have 1 point compared to none for the other 2 sides. Therefore yes the final would be lined up between Walterstown and Rathkenny.

worst 2 down next year, intermediate champs up, will leave 16 teams in 2011 championship, top 2 in each group will make up quarter finals, bottom 4 will go to relegation semis

Quite simply, there can be no relegation decided before the end of this year. It is unfair on the teams involved, especially Rathkenny, who have stopped training. Like it or not, Walterstown were totally within the rules to appeal, and more importantly correct, so it is not their fault. If a similar thing happened with Meath I would like to see our county board fight our case tooth and nail as well.
The Rathkenny v Walterstown game ended a draw so a replay must happen with the losers facing Duleek-Bellewstown in the relegation final. In order to make a level playing field, these games should not take place until March 2010, after sides have had some time to get up to speed. The championship draws can then take place after that.
If the county board decide against relegation this year, that is totally unfair to the likes of Drumconrath, who lost out at intermediate level. It would mean there are 17 senior teams and just 15 intermediate ones. We would have to relegate two senior teams next year to balance the books and that would not be just if teams other than the three involved this year were affected. Why should the second worst senior team in 2010 suffer relegation just because three clubs got off scot free in 2009?

I dont think they can abolish relegation at this stage. Would be totally in breach of rules. Rules for the championship would have been set at the start of the season and could not be altered now. If they were they could create an even bigger mess that they already have with countless more objections.

A precedence has already been set this year with no relegation from the All Ireland hurling championship so rules can be easily breached

Croke Park have ruled that the game has to be refixed, no exceptions. The timing will be critical to give each an equal opportunity. D/B have a great advantage at present due to their continued involvement in Div 1 of the league.

it dont matter what croke park say, this game will not be replayed, the county board will restructure the championship sooner then replay it
