I definitly think Alan Kerins of Galway deserves a mention. And to the guy who said a county like Longford may have had the equivalent but never got to shine in hurling- I'm afraid not! Our best hurlers, never really excelled at Football. coontekinta (Longford) - Posts: 2 - 24/10/2009 01:02:20 464835 Link 0 |

Nobody's mentioned the only player ever to win an All Ireland in both codes in the same year. Not that that is enough to mean he would be a great, like Patrique explained. But still, this man was a great hurler and a great footballer on merit alone. A mighty mighty midfielder I have to say and possibly the best jumper ever in recent times. thykingdomcome (Kerry) - Posts: 1206 - 24/10/2009 13:46:34 465018 Link 0 |

When on to win senior all irelans with Down and played for Down hurlers in 92 against Cork in all ireland semi, a serious talent? tullyframerover (Down) - Posts: 276 - 24/10/2009 14:39:19 465070 Link 0 |

You got it brendt. Standing 5'10" he was one hell of a fielder. And a battler supreme. thykingdomcome (Kerry) - Posts: 1206 - 24/10/2009 15:06:00 465096 Link 0 |

TKC - Teddy Mac, two AI's within a fortnight, must be the best alright. Thomas O'Leary (rugby player) was also very good at both but hard to judge as he switched sport before he could play senior. Actually I have seen Diarmuid O'Sullivan play football recently with cloyne and he is a very tidy player, nowhere near the best dual player but worth the mention I feel. Shane Ryan and Conal Keaney also well up there if we are mentioning Lucey. tj09 (Cork) - Posts: 481 - 24/10/2009 23:02:52 465473 Link 0 |
