Expect plenty more beatings like that tonight for the Old Firm unless they can escape the SPL to either the EPL or this "Atlantic League" that's being talked about. They just don't have the (TV) money to compete anymore (Murray is broke, Celtic is being run as a profit-making business). Celtic and Rangers are battling with Championship clubs for bargain-basement signings at the moment, which is a shame, because they have the fanbases and stadia to compete with the best clubs in Europe, but they are hamstrung by their geographical and political position. nocky (Wexford) - Posts: 2059 - 20/10/2009 23:01:09 460987 Link 0 |

I have been watching Celtic play for over 25 years and can honestly say that this squad and Scottish football in general is as bad as I can remember. I would be really concerned for the game there and while I can gloat at Rangers getting pumped the fact is that we are just as bad. David Murray is looking for a quick exit from Rangers but can't find a buyer while there is an awful air of apathy and despair in Celtic Park these days. There are vast spaces in both grounds at European games and that is something that you never really got before. Rangers sold just over 35000 tickets for a Champions League game and that is worrying, we'll be lucky to get 40000 against Hamburg on Thursday. Scottish football is a disgrace. They'd be safer getting rid of all those substandard foriegn players and rebuild the club with young scots that want to play for Rangers. That lad Fleck they have playing for them just isnt bad. GetOverTheBar (Tyrone) - Posts: 1388 - 21/10/2009 12:31:15 461435 Link 0 |
