Tyrone ref assaulted after SFC final

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Lets be honest, wouldnt be the first time Ardboe got a ban. It happened, heat of the moment, jesus its no big deal. The loughshore lads live and breathe football, sometimes i wonder have the people that post on this board ever played a game? Theres been moments in my own career when ive saw red. Im not condoning what happened, but lets be honest, if anybody here cannot say they would feel rage after losing a county final they probably deserved to win would there not be someone react in the wrong way.

Tyrone club games are very indisciplined, unlike our games in Cavan !! Time to heal this scourge !!

If this is true then it is a disgrace, we all know that ref's make mistake's but to go as far as to assault one is disgraceful.

Granted I wasn't there so I don't know what happened but according to all reports around this it was an alleged attack on the referee. No injuries sustained though but I can't see how anyone can condone players or spectators intimidating referees in any shape or form just because they're upset with some of the calls he's made in the game.

GetOverTheBar.....
Its not fair to tar all the loughshore clubs with the same brush.... Like have you ever heard of Brocagh, Derrylaughan, Moortown or Ballinderry being in trouble with the GAA authorities....
NEVER !!!!!

I said it as a generalisation of that area and how seriously you boys take your football down round there. It was a compliment.

Did you know that back in the last century Moortown were once suspended for about 999 years because a referee was assaulted. The culprit wasn't a Moortown man at all ..... he was from Ardboe.... but the Malachys were still put out of football for several years...... no doubt you will be able to read all about that episode soon in Moortown's upcoming book.

What are you on about? I dont even know where to begin with such a spiel of drivel. I get mad all the time at games, you would never want to be within earshot of me if your are of a sensitive nature or even if your not! BUt as soon as the game is over that is it, accept the result and get on with it until you get home and get on here to rant about it.
I would never let my emotions get the better of me that badly that I would take to the pitch to get at the ref, but then I am not from east Tyrone so maybe I am not emotional enough, is that it?

The fellas involved need a good toe in the backside, I would lump them in with the English soccer hooligans who tore up Lansdowne Rd

Im saying i can understand why it happened, again if you read my post you'll realise i said i didnt condone the action. I just said i can see how it could happen. Lets be honest, for such a gathering of people the security isnt great at GAA grounds.
Its not such a big deal, yet another thing blew out of proportion in the GAA. Its just as bad as soccer these days. Didnt Drogba do something similar at the end of last years Champs League Semi final? He got 4 games, reduced to 3....And he was the worst in the world too. All im saying is get off the high horses, we've all done things we arent proud of and i'll assume the fella responsible for this thread is feeling an idiot enough without everyman and his dog vilifying him. Lets be honest. In 2 weeks it will be forgot about.
And as far as Ballinderry goes thats nothing to do with me, i'll stay out of that one.

It probably is a loughshore thing, swallowed too many flies off the lough.Ballinderry aren't so bad now but they used to be fairly feisty. The first ten minutes of a match involved a bit of sorting out but after that it was usually grand.

461474 Beat up? He wasnt touched.

I think you will find this not to be true.
Not beat up, but a certain Ardboe player
definitely made contact with the ref on the way of the field.

Not to mention the text and calls the ref received that night.
It was definitely a penalty.
A big call to make but a correct decision.

"Made contact with"......You make contact by definition if you look someone in the eyes these days.
As for it being a penalty? Was there any doubt? It was a dubious Goalkeeping decision rather than refereeing one.
I wasnt aware of any phonecalls or texts to any referee, now thats too far. Thats aforethought, my point being someone reacting off the cuff at the final whistle is in a way understandable, tensions are high, it was the start of the ardboe inquest into the robbery that way. Im sure it continued all night. Contacting a ref after the game through this medium is nothing short of a disgrace, and I would hope this wasnt true.

Contact by the way of physical contact.
It was nothing more than a brush of the ref`s back
but contact all the same.
The TEXT and calls are true.

I have have witnessed both.
