Ah, the ref was from the same COUNTRY as St Gall's. Maybe a neutral ref from Spain or somewhere would have been better.

and he's from the same county as some of the galls players.....knows them well i beleive!!!couple of galls players should have walked aswel!!!!!!

Well once one team gets one sent off they seem to lose the run of themselves and the whole team discilpline goes out the window.

yesterday he gave one cavan gaels player a yellow card, lost the run of himself and the whole rule book went out the window,he gave 4 yellows in the space of about 3 minutes, for very minor things.

i believe most of the county championship was recorded so id imagine that this game was aswel.id love to see the video of it.

Correct me if im wrong but are cavan people blaming these sendings off on the referree? Surely no man who was at that game could have any complaints on the sendings off. Ill admit that the oenalty was controversial first time ive seen that myself. The stars through the dummy out of the pram when their backs were against the wall. Was not pretty to watch.

Kdog, we burst the only ball at a game to claim the points against St Gall's just before that. The Kesh incident, their mini-bus was in front of ours at a check point and they helpfully told the soldiers that we were all in the 'Ra.

We got an escort to the Kesh.

But to return to yesterday's game. St Gall's are six down, score THREE IN A ROW without reply, and then get a penalty that changed the course of the game?

I think St gall's just had a seriously bad day. Remember the all Ireland against Salthill? Woeful.

But I shall write to the GAA and ask for Russian refs and linesmen for games featuring Cavan teams in future. Might even start a petition as that is my type of thing.

first red card wasnt directly the refs fault.he made a wrong decision which resulted in st galls getting a goal, which resulted in a few players getting physical, and finally ended up with one player taking it too far.as far as i remember the other 3 had previous yellow cards for things that didnt warrant a yellow card,so it was the refs fault that they got the 1st yellows but there own for the 2nd.

A referree makes a wrong decision so hes at fualt for a player hitting another player catch yourself on for god sake and have a look at what your writing. Referrees do not provoke violence out of any player. Your comment as ridiculous

If teams would behave they would not get 2 yellows or four reds when yous get beat same old story refs are to blame.

well maybe get a ref that actually knows the rules.....he pulled up the goalkeeper for over carrying in the small square...(even though id say he took about 2 steps and being tackled in the square)....but anyway, when a goalkeeper is pulled up for overcarrying in the square, its a 13 yard free and NOT a penalty....this ref cost cavan gaels the game because of his lack knowledge of the rules.....DISGRACE.

you read what im writing.he was not directly at fault for the 1st sending off.however if his wrong decisions had not had such an impact on the scoreline,i doubt anyone would of been sent off.so,no it wasnt his fault, but his decisions didnt help matters.

I dont think Cavan Gaels have much support within their own county... they dont have a great reputation for modesty shall we say !!!!

As I stated earlier - was'nt at the game but have now had the benefit of talking to a couple of neutrals who were at the game. In their view

1) The galls goal came from a free for an off the ground free which was a clean foot-lift.
2) Keeper was fouled and Galls player should have got yellow in the melee that say Reilly sent off
3) Other than above Ref called most things right
4) All 4 deserved the cards they got
5) Johnston deserved to get the line also
6) The cavan captain gave the ref pretty much constant abuse and could have gone a lot earlier
7) Despite Cavan hitting the bar/post late on Galls were better by 6/7 points

It is a penalty for a keeper to do it but if a players except the keeper does it it is a 14 yard free . So please you go and read the rules before making comment.

A mean how someone can say the ref cost cavan gaels the game. Surely it was their inabilty to control their bad tempers on the day and not put St.galls away when they appeared to have them beat. Refs dont win games. thats a cop out.

Typical Cavan Gael's.They have it all their own way in Cavan and when they get outside the County and teams stand up to them and refuse to be bullied and they don't meet Intimidated ref's like the ones in their own County they resort to type. How sad they don't seem to have the belief and faith in their own ability and have to lower themselves to this.I mean 4 bein sent off!4! That can't be justified by even the most ardent of Cavan Gaels follower's.

From reading this as soon as Cavan Gaels realised who the ref was there was going to be trouble.

So I suspect indiscipline started before the game.

Look, you caught St Gall's on a really bad day, pouring rain, a bit stale.

Just as well Gall's are good.

The red cards were justified & it wasn't a penalty but Gall had the whole play & derserved to win. As for the Mc Gourtys who people claim would make Antrim a lot better, there were poor & don't look like county standard players to me

459307 Dont worry kdog15 this is a regular thing for cavan club teams and not a one off as suggested by a cavan lad here!

Last year their intermediate champions Ballinagh made a disgrace of themselves (ask the poor umpires) when they took on Dublins 'Fingal Ravens'! There is a trend here!

Regards,

Snufalufagus....Laochra Gael

This is just typical of you Snuf. All you do on here is bump your own threads and opportunistically stick the boot in other counties when the chance arises. You know nothing about Cavan football so keep your ignorant generalisations to yourself. There is no trend and is not a regular thing. Honestly you have never said one positive thing about anything not to do with Dublin in all your supposed years on here. A disgrace to this board.

Of course it goes without saying that Dublin GAA has an immaculate record and everybody associated with it is above reproach.

I didn't get to the game myself, my parents did however and I did listen on the radio. One of the things my folks mentioned is that the Gaels played the way they normally do but just didn't get away with it, they started acting up when things weren't going their way. I think it is a case of having it their own way in Cavan for so long and when someone puts it up to them they lose the plot.

Another point. The Gaels (and a lot of other clubs in the county, including my own) have been getting away with this type of play in Cavan for far too long now. In Cavan club games I have seen punches thrown and the guy only gets a stern talking to by the ref, maybe a yellow card at a stretch. Is that their fault, or the fault of the refs in Cavan for failing to take action and help to stomp this out. Fact is, if an outside ref came in to referee any club match in Cavan 4 or 5 would be sent off every game.

Final point (and it is controversial). I have been following Cavan sides in Ulster for years now, be it underage football or hurling, club games, county games. I even played in lots of Ulster club games for my club. The southern ulster counties rarely get anything off a northern ref, when they are playing a northern team. Time and time again when a game is in the melting pot, I have seen northern refs make the most stupid decisions. I can admit that some of these decisions would be classed as 50/50 that can go either way. but 99% of the time these 50/50 decisions go to the northern teams. I have seen more videos of our teams playing in Ulster and sometimes you have to wonder what these refs are thinking. I remember even showing some of these matches to guys from outside Ulster and they were disgusted by the decisions. Anyway, I agree with a poster further up there, there is no system for refs to be assessed, and I have never seen a ref being taken off duty for blatant mistakes.

Kevin has twice been man of the tournament at Sigerson, and maybe just behind Declan O'Sullivan if tyou were looking for a centre half forward to play for Ireland.

Yes he is that good.

CJ can be written off as he is only a dual player, and probably Antrim's best forward, but then maybe Antrim do not have any "county" standard players. Depends what county you compare them to, maybe Cavan?

Ciaran at the moment is concentrating on hurling for the county. Might be too good for Cavan Gaels but not county football.
