Portugal or Russia i believe would have been a tougher draw, we can beat France. Need to keep a clean sheet in Croke Park though.
Ireland 1 France 0
France 2 Ireland 1.

Ireland 1-0 France
France 2-1 Ireland

Will be tough . But Russia would have been the toughest . The journey and the artificial pitch alone as well as the technical style of football the Russians play would bury us .
France have always had problems . There media hates Domenech and will remind him , failure to qualify will get him the sack . Henry will miss the Croke Park game . Benzema said prior to a group game he didnt feel like playing and although he scored in there last game , Domenech is supposed to bring Trezeguet back to the international team for the first time in 18months

Ribery, Henry, Malouda, Benzema, Anelka...................Its going to be very tough. I know France have been very poor during their qualifying campaign but they still have potentially one of the best teams in the world.

Are best hope lies with Domench as he seems to be the main problem with France. We have a chance of course but its going to be tough. A win in Croker, preferably without the concession of an away goal, is a must. Even if we go to Paris with a positive result we'll still be up against it.

Hope not but severe lack of quality in the Irish side to create chances.Set pieces is about it.

If Stephen Reid and Finnan are fit to play both legs then we'll win. Reid centre mid-field brings a touch of class without abondoning the system that Trap loves.
Finnan right back, move O'shea to left back and drop Kilbane. He's a good honest hard working footballer but he will be completely exposed by the forwards that France have.
Someone said Henry is missing for the first leg, why is that?

Second best draw we could have hoped for but I still think France will be too good, we might be able to sneek something if we play like we did v Italy minus the two sloppy goals.

Watch out for dodgy refereeing as well! FIFA want France in South Africa.

I heared he has a hamstring injury . Wouldnt have thought that would keep him out of the playoff in just less than 4weeks but according to SSNews hes " in a race against time to be fit " .

14th - Dub
18th Paris

Agree that we need finnan in and kilbane out with O'shea moving but still think we are lacking a second good CH - put O'shea there but then who do we put at LB?

left back stephen kelly or joey o'brien in at centre back he is playin consistantly with bolton but has been overlooked since stan played him midfield. stephen reid is a must for these games.
i am seriouly delighted with the draw lads think we got the best pssible draw we could have asked for. remember they knocked us out of world cup in 2006 so we owe them a favour in return!!

458783 France are not as good as Italy. If we raise the roof off Croker in the first leg anything could happen.

we will all be drenched

Lads/Lases, they did not seed these games so that Ireland would win.

Think about it.

they are just so hard watch much less follow- was i just young or did the 90s not make you wanna follow the team im afraid there just isnt as much interest anymore and its a shame- the gaa in cash, the irfu as the top followed sport and france as going to the world cup are the 3 main winners- alas the age old problem of accepting second best it there in abundance it a mentality thing the rugby lads got it right in their heads last christmas and look what happened- the most lions, grand slam (triple crown if you want to be particular) win HC and magners league a clean sweep so to speak the difference is they go out to win and refuse to lose, the soccer boys are more give it a go and try your best kinda thing- would you ever think munster going out in thomand ever even contemplating getting beat- i seriously doubt it and would include any international team, personally i think the attitude stinks, as paul on connell once said when i met him'you live to die on that pitch' - it was one of the best things i ever heard a bit of passion like that wouldnt go amiss in the fai
