Ideal club

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Is there any club in the county than could class themselves as being the complete gaa club. There are bound to be plenty of opinions on this as everyone thinks highly of their own club. In my view the complete gaa club is where all our games are catered for. This is only my opinion but I would be interested to hear what others would define as being the ideal GAA club.

Carmen are the ideal club. They have the unity and the togetherness that all clubs long for. They have a large nationalist population and promote culture at every possible opportunity. Look what the did with the Nally stand. Alot didn't agree with it though the rallied behind their club man. A piece of the GAA folklore now lies in Tyrone. Hats off the the green, white and gold.

True Carrickmore have a great setup and a great club it is a credit to them all down to a community effort as well which is the way it should be.
On a side note though is handball catered for in Carrickmore?

I know its not to do with the GAA exactly I have always been disapointed with Carrickmore's contribution to traditional Irish music. Paddy Grugan was the one shining beacon for it in Carmen. I hope his passing will have inspired a few trad msuicians about the Big Rock

Yeah Joe, there is also a handball club in carmen. Fantastic club and community. Nice sentiments regarding the late Paddy Grugan as well.

the football and hurling teams have two different names St. Colmcille & eire og, and play in different team colours. to me this would't feel to be ONE ideal club.

What has the Carrickmore area ever done for rounders?

There is no ideal club in Tyrone, many people across the county have helped play and promote different gaelic games in difficult times from Strabane to Killyman and everywhere in between. Carrickmore and the mid tyrone area are lucky that so many people get involved not just with football but also hurling and handball and dont have other distractions like soccer, basketball, cricket and so on that provide strong competition elsewhere in tyrone.

Cappagh bound to be among the top clubs in the county. Hurling, football, handball and a great scor tradition all catered for. As for the rounders is it played anywhere in Tyrone competitively?

Theres no such thing as the perfect club, im sure theres quite alot of people who have read this thread and laughed when people mentioned Carmen, they've also been guilty of shall we shall, infringement of rules over the years.
The perfect club is the one you get a jersey for, doesnt matter what level

Omagh for their youth system and for their set up.
Carrickmore represent the total GAA with a great football, hurling and handball team.

Right- you may have got it. Maybe some of the players in big games actually thought thay were auditioning for the Novelty Act in the Scor. Or next time a big game is on they could take one of the Set or Ceili teams to 'dance' them a few extra scores.

Mick O'Connell - that was the least funny or intelligent thing i've ever had the awful misfortune to read. Hang your head in shame, sir.
