Can Ballyboden be the next Crossmaglen?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

With Ballyboden dethroning the current All Ireland champions can we predict a dominance of Football in Leinster and possibly farther afield for St.Enda's? Their Senior team is obviously very strong and the future must be very bright also. I attended this years Feile nA nOg in Kildare and was very impressed with their Under 14's in their march to victory. Are Ballyboden the next big thing on the All Ireland club scene for the foreseeable future?

Hold your horses man they are only in the Dublin Final...a little bit premature to be comparing them to Crossmaglen just yet.

I am only asking a very hypathetical question. no one can question the success that Cross have had over the last 10/15 years, but St.Enda's have a very good youth structure coming through and obviously a very good senior team. It bodes very well for them. In fact it BallyBodes very well for them.

They will win the Dublin sfc sunday maybe even a Leinster but to suggest a period of dominance ala Cross is stretching it a bit.

totally different arguement Breffni. This thread is hypathetical. dell is talking about something that has happened and he is making assumptions and placing accusations based on hearsay. I am only starting like you point out a "hypothetical" thread. A talking point.. no more, no less.

Maybe even Leinster, knocking out AI defending champions on the way. So why not AI? Is this not allowed to happen? All i am saying is that they seem to have a very good underage structure in the club, their Seniors are going very nicely and could we be looking at a new period of club domination. Thats all. And Breffni..again.. read Dell's comments about the Derry Ref intimidation ( apparantly by gaels, so Dell and the media say ) and you will understand my comments about him.

A wee bit premature methinks! In any case, I think the odds are against any Dublin team dominating to the same extent as Crossmaglen, no matter how good they are. The Dublin championship is far more competitive than Armagh's, and the Leinster championship is also a bit of a minefield - the champions from Carlow, Offaly, Laois or Westmeath are always capable of knocking off one of the big guns in any given year.

No. Cross were a once in a lifetime phenomonen. I believe it will be a long time before we see a team dominate the club championship like Cross. We may never see such a feat again. It may be possible in Hurling for a club from a county with a strong hurling base to dominate aka Portumna.
