What provinces are against each other in the All Ireland Semi finals...I presume Ulster champions will have a quarter final against British champions.

Who cares, how many teams will be in with a shout?About 3 at best.Great.They should just play it off in the next few weeks between these 3 teams and save everyone the bother.

It is a tad confined alright but that's hardly the fault of the strong clubs. are 4 roads still going strong

I assume that would be the team that has appeared in FOUR finals, Dunloy, and who would the other two be?

Four Roads, maybe?

Have the people on this thread ever watched the club championship games? It's the only level where Ulster hurling has consistently competed and beat the best the country has to offer. Portumna are the ones to beat but there's very little between the rest of the clubs in the competition.

I can see Ballycran or Dunloy causing a real shock in the s/f.

That is really sad.

I remember the excellent Clan na nGael club sides, from Roscommon, led by the great Tony McManus. I knew Tony from university days.

Now I would look totally crass and a bit like a"Johnny come lately to the GAA" Manchester United fan if I began to dismiss that great Roscommon team because they lost four finals in a row. It was still a mighty achievement being in those finals.

You see, in GAA circles, unlike SKY TV driven soccer, it is not all about winners. Now Clan na nGael did Connacht and Roscommon proud in reaching those finals, but at least there is a tradition there.

Dunloy, situated about 300 miles from the hub and home of hurling, in FOUR (sic) 4 all Ireland club finals, having beaten the like of Glenmore, Mount Sion and Athenry to reach those finals, that is like Kerry winning 30 Sams or Kilkenny winning 20 Mccarthy cups.

Add in the fact that Ballycastle (ANTRIM) and Rossa (ANTRIM) have also lost in finals, and that Loughiel (ANTRIM) WON THE TITLE in the past, it is extremely rude, and insensitive of someone to just completely write off the Ulster challenge in this tournament. Four clubs from Antrim have been in finals, not too many counties can equal that. And don't forget that Newtownshandrum beat Ballygalget of DOWN by a POINT in the semi a few short years ago.

Mind you it is completely excusable if you know nothing about the sport.

Portumna V Newtown would be a tasty final! I fancy James Stephens to come out of Leinster, if they do they will take some beating.
