Irish music

Don't rate any of the modern-day crop of musicians mentioned to be honest. The best Irish (rock) musicians in my opinion are the late greats Rory Gallagher and Phil Lynott. Throw in Van the Man as well.

Blizzards, Coronas, etc.? No way. Remember the Thrills, haha.

The Thrills were a good laugh alright nocky, remember that song Big Sur, always used to crack me up :-)

Nevermind Irish Music, i reckon the music industry in general has been deplorable over the last decade, easily the worst decade since the 80s but at least the 80s gave us a good laugh, particularly with all those brilliant power ballads. The 00s have absolutely no redeeming qualities, except maybe Britney's breakdown.

Totally agree Htaem. I cringe when I hear people refer to "good" music today. I don't know if it's because we've basically become desensitised to absolute crap or what. When I hear some of my mates describing the likes of Akon and David Guetta as geniuses I'm almost tempted to become a recluse.

Spot on Lockjaw, sure i have mates who won't listen to anything unless its 2 weeks old or less, incredible stuff really. Akon and Guetta geniuses??? haha, now come on if music was left in their hands and people like Dylan, Lennon, Hendrix, Cobain etc etc never existed, we'd still be listening to Mozart on our gramophones.

It's gone the same as everything else. The quickest and easiest route to make money will inevitably be taken. The big music corporations have a lot to answer for, consistently inflicting aural sodomy on each and every one of us. All those X-Factor type shows are the biggest fads of all time. Your man Cowell or the buck Louis Walsh must have some craic when they see their bank statements every month.

Ah the Horlsips, ably lead by that multi talented Tyrone native Barry Devlin, and the one off that is/was Rory Gallagher, good call patrique.
