can anyone think of a good reason why we WOULD want it back? seriously...and none of this 32 county unity rubbish please, come into the real economical world thank you. Why would good decent Irish people down here want the hassle that comes with the North being forced on us?

Mikeynora reading your last post I have no doubt that you are a highly intelligent person. Therefore could you please tell me why an 80 percent land mass of an island subject to proper management stands a reasonable chance of a sustainable economic future, whilst as is inherent in your post if the future Economic unit consisted of 100% of the island then there would be no sustainable future.

I would like to see a United Ireland eventually but will vote a big NO for the time being on the grounds that we can't afford it, and secondly there are still far too many nutters up there, that our poor under resourced Police Force and Army would not be able to handle. Also what do our Northern friends think of having to pay 30 to 40% more for everything, a United Ireland might sound wonderful, but the reality might be a lot different.

_____________
On the contrary if any region that is populated by a group of people who are Irish or who have Irish ancestary and who have 100% agreement that they as group of people want to come under Irish rule and pay Irish taxes I certainly have no problem and am sure no one else does

When boyhood's fire was in my blood
I read of ancient freemen,
For Greece and Rome who bravely stood,
Three hundred men and three men;
And then I prayed I yet might see
Our fetters rent in twain,
And Ireland, long a province, be.
A Nation once again!

A Nation once again,
A Nation once again,
And lreland, long a province, be
A Nation once again!

And from that time, through wildest woe,
That hope has shone a far light,
Nor could love's brightest summer glow
Outshine that solemn starlight;
It seemed to watch above my head
In forum, field and fane,
Its angel voice sang round my bed,
A Nation once again!

It whisper'd too, that freedom's ark
And service high and holy,
Would be profaned by feelings dark
And passions vain or lowly;
For, Freedom comes from God's right hand,
And needs a Godly train;
And righteous men must make our land
A Nation once again!

So, as I grew from boy to man,
I bent me to that bidding
My spirit of each selfish plan
And cruel passion ridding;
For, thus I hoped some day to aid,
Oh, can such hope be vain ?
When my dear country shall be made
A Nation once again!

You have got this wrong. My favourite chant is "give us back the 26".

I would be happy that way.
