you have to give credit to kilcoo, 72 years since they last won a down championship, this was the first time they have played an experienced team outside down in a competitive match, and disposed of them comfortably. gaelic_life (Down) - Posts: 286 - 08/11/2009 21:52:02 478981 Link 0 |
just want to say well done to kilcoo today, i think they proved themselves! lets hope next Sunday goes as well! cillchuagal (Down) - Posts: 32 - 08/11/2009 22:29:37 479005 Link 0 |

Fair play to Kilcoo, a massive result for them and football in Down as well. Hope they can do the same thing to the Derry champs as well Square ball (None) - Posts: 62 - 09/11/2009 13:09:48 479323 Link 0 |

fair play to kilcoo....honestly think that they can go far. paul devlin outstanding left foot, he is most certain to get called up to the down team! down1994 (Down) - Posts: 65 - 09/11/2009 21:35:25 479793 Link 0 |
Downboy06 what does it say on the Eunan's website now - any interesting FACTS? There were a few people on this thread that were quick to write Kilcoo off but are not so quick to praise them! Not strong enough, no motivation etc. Kilcoo are still underdogs against the Loup but they have more balls than any club in Down and I don't mean footballs! Looking forward to Sunday and had to laugh at some of our local clubs players/fans supporting Donegal yesterday. CrossDarr (Down) - Posts: 101 - 09/11/2009 22:33:41 479832 Link 0 |
Big result against one of the dark horses for Ulster. The magpies will hopfully go all the way which would be great for Down football. When is the game against the Loup and where is the venue. saulgael (Down) - Posts: 553 - 10/11/2009 02:34:11 479970 Link 0 |
TBH, thats the first decent game I've seen Paul Devlin play in six months. He has been very average in any of their big games lately but had a great game on Sunday. He probably is good enough to be involved in the Down squad but thats about it - 'one swallow never made a Summer' Jofus (Down) - Posts: 248 - 10/11/2009 07:36:44 479977 Link 0 |
did well agaisnst letterkenny but will go no further dabiglad (Down) - Posts: 155 - 10/11/2009 11:11:36 480077 Link 0 |
dabiglad, what makes you say they will go no further? Loup are no big shakes, from what i hear they are close to getting relegated from the derry first division, plus they beat derrygonnelly, standard of fermanagh club football is quite poor. so i definately wouldnt rule them out of reaching an ulster final. hope they do! gaelic_life (Down) - Posts: 286 - 10/11/2009 11:43:03 480104 Link 0 |
I was extremely disappointed with the result Sunday (for obvious reasons), we were beating on the day by a much hungrier team that fully deserved their victory! Our lads did not match Kilcoo's intensity from the off and that is where the match was lost. Well done to Kilcoo and good luck against The Loop! As I said earlier I wouldn't have paid any heed to eunans4eva, he's probably not even a member of our club and just somebody on the wind-up! It wouldn't be too hard for somebody who dislikes Eunans (of which there are plenty in our county, jealousy of three in-a-row and all that) to set up that user name and go slabbering all over the Down message board! And who are you frederickwood? spouting rubbish on here, what exactly is your problem with Eunans and Donegal, cause you seem to have one. A Roscommon man preaching to us don't make me laugh!! Once again good luck to Kilcoo in the rest of your campaign!! LetterkennyMan (Donegal) - Posts: 393 - 10/11/2009 12:02:27 480145 Link 0 |
lads kilcoo desreved it end of the day see the one who are critiscing kilcoo yas r all jst jealous of kilcoo they worked very hard and proved that they were worthy winners of down and can show they can beat any club anytime anywhere and anyplace. we(Kilcoo) have gotten stick saying winning down was a fluke while we done it the hard way and we beat a experienced ulster side. Kilcoo can do it thye could actually win ulster if they believe in themselfs kilcoo won fair and square. We (kilcoo0 beat the ref the ref was terrible give kilcoo hardly anyhting in the whole match. Kilcoo Beat st eunans end of story take it if yas dnt like it tough downrules (Down) - Posts: 60 - 10/11/2009 19:04:12 480539 Link 0 |
Leave PD alone he done very well on sunday and he has played very good games in the league so there u go one of most kilcoo cruical players in that team and sure did he not kick over 2 points to earn killcoo win against the brdige so there u go Jofus dnt ever say nfn bout paul cuz he was there all the time and delivering points. downrules (Down) - Posts: 60 - 10/11/2009 19:07:56 480543 Link 0 |
Dont no how anyone can say Kilcoo were lucky or dont deserve their success this season. They have beat the best teams in Down to win the championship, and now beat 3 in a row Donegall champs without 1 of their best players (Brannigan). blu (Down) - Posts: 1240 - 10/11/2009 19:31:59 480569 Link 0 |
Downrules, you really put us in our box with two excellent, though mistake ridden, replies. Jofus (Down) - Posts: 248 - 10/11/2009 20:09:26 480615 Link 0 |
firstly i'd like to say fair play too kilcoo hope your ulster journey continues.i was embarassed to be a down football fan in the stand on sunday, for the simple reason of a few of the rival players from the 'town' were clapping every point st eunans scored,at half time i over heard one of them commenting to a donegal man not even from st eunans that he hoped they came back into it and stuffed kilcoo,i'm a bryansford club man and i was shouting kilcoo on and will be next sunday again so i think it would be great for down football if we could all get behind kilcoo and cheer them on to ulster sucess!!!!TOWN players should get out and support them you never know when you'd need there support in a final. gaa.egghead (Down) - Posts: 35 - 10/11/2009 23:13:13 480704 Link 0 |
