Auldfellow, if it's harder to win the meath sfc then surely that would stand to ye year in year out and if not maybe ye should change the format if it Works against ye....
Anyways it was tough on the meath champs having to play today after a tough couple of weeks and there's no doubt they weren running at 100%.
But dont forget laois champions had 2 play the day after there county final a few years ago so it's hardly unknown of.

I don't think it will be the Ulster Champions, our club scene is not as strong as it was. Maybe Ballyboden or the Kerry side.

I think most Ulster clubs would beat Ballyboden and certainly O'Rahilly's.

I wouldn't write off Portlaois, Loup, St Gall's, Clontribet, or Corofin.

But Ulster is certainly very strong. Cross can't even win Armagh, and the team that beat them are out.

I'd like to see Portlaoise winning it. After getting beaten by a point in 98 final to Crossmaglen, it's not the best feeling and Portloaise had to suffer it when we beat them by a point in 05.

listen to you they have a very good chance against loup. they are still underdogs but no team is certain of victory in championship football. clontibret and st galls will be tight, there will be 2 points in it at the most i think

Think I'd have to go with the winners of Leinster - reckon it will be either Portlaoise or Ballyboden. The momentum either of these would carry into a semi final might be too much for most teams, even those who happen to be better footballing teams.

I've had some friends from across the border talking up Portlaoise as darkhorses all year. They were mocked at the time for such suggestions, not as much I was mocked for backing Rhode though...

As much as I'd love to see Clara do it, realistically I wouldn't expect them to win Leinster.

Portlaoise aren't all they're cracked up to be. Seneschalstown were a physically drained team last week, apparently lost 3 men to injusy in the first half and missed a hatful of goal chances. With a week between the county replay and the Leainster quarter final they could have beaten Portlaoise

Jacket.. I see you said 'apparently lost three players to injury' so I would presume you were not at match and making your comment on second hand accounts.

Portlaoise are ok but Meaths reps were not good and provided noting more than a challenge match to Portlaoise.Clara will be the real test of this Portlaoise team.
