which is better. i think its too hard to call. david brent is probably slightly better than michael scott. they should have made more episodes of the UK office

I don't think that Ricky Gervias is funny at all. American one for me. Jim is a legend!

The crew in the US version are very funny guys in their own right but it has come too late and looks too much like imitation to me so it's David Brent and Co for me.

That type of humour is quite particular and has a short lifetime so imitation doesn't really work all that well. But it's a matter of taste and that's just my opinion.

If you find yourself unable to control your laughter then that's successful comedy regardless of who did it first.

Having watched all of the Office and only some of the US Office I think they both have their good and bad points. Brent is better than Scott but the more time given to character development in the US Office makes for more enjoyable watching.

PS If you want to watch a really LOL Sit Com then Coupling on the Comedy Channel is excellent.

I think it depends what you're looking for.

The original has a much more realistic feel to it, and nearly anything that happens in it is just an exageration of what really does happen in work situations. It's much more reliant "cringe" humour than the US.

The US version has diverged from the orignal as it has developed, with the scenarios portrayed becoming slightly more ridiculous, and becoming more "set-ups" for the gags therein. It's becoming more and more like a sit-com as it goes on.

They both have their merits, and are both very funny, but for me the originality and subtlety of the original wins out every time.
Whilst it's a pity that there weren't more of the original, it's probably a good thing in that the show never went stale. There's only so much you can do within the confines of the office setting without becoming repetitive, or having to stretch the believability (as has happened with the US version).

Yeah, I'd have thought, in the interests of consistency, that 32 would hate the office as it is an English production and that some spanish comedy would auotmatically be far better. Everyone who likes the office are just buying into media hype. Turns out 32 is only patriotic when it comes to English soccer teams. Confusing to say the least.

A tough one, The US office is often hilarious but is more of a traditinal sitcom compared to the UK one. Also you kind of have to feel sorry for Brent because hes aware that he is such a loser, whereas Michael Scott seems does'nt, so the UK is a bit more dramatic.

.....Thats what she said!

Took the words out of my mouth breffni. The spanish office must be the best. But hang on, what about the spanish conquistadors invading south america? Scratch that, its got to be the italian office... But what about the expansive roman empire??? No, now its the german office... etc etc

The American one is far better purely because Ricky Gervais, one of the most annoying people ever to appear on television, is not in it. It's still not very good, though.

US one had a tough act to follow. The Brit one is more earthy that's for sure.I just don't find the American version that funny.Has to be Ricky.

As Gervais himself said after winning a ton of golden globes - "its not about awards!!!!"

2 very different shows based on the same premise. UK one is a classic in its own right. It was far more realistic and aimed at hitting peoples ability to deal with cringe.

Took me a while to get into the american show, but absolutely love it now. Dwight comes out with some of the best one liners ever.

Oooooh theres one for yis sports fans - Dwight or Gareth. Who is the bigger wally?

I wouldn't mind being in the presence of Dwight, He'd make me laugh whereas I'd probably strangle Gareth.
