No doubt this topic has been debated before i ventured into the education system of Loyal2, Kleenex, Bananaman, Patrique and the rest, but if it is then i apologise ( my first sign of weakness ) but would love to hear everyone's views on this one. For me in my totally unbiased blinkers off opinion it would have to be Anthony Tohill and Brian McGilligan of Derry in the 90's. I personally think these two would wipe out any pairing of the present day at their leisure. Any views? kingpuck71 (Derry) - Posts: 691 - 26/09/2009 20:48:01 437337 Link 0 |

Sean O'Domhnaill & Kevin Walsh for Galway 1998 - 2001 were very good. thykingdomcome (Kerry) - Posts: 1206 - 26/09/2009 22:33:24 437435 Link 0 |
The legendary Willie Joe Padden alongside T.J Kilgannon. I remember the '88 semi-final against Meath when they completely destroyed Liam Hayes and Gerry McEntee. Unfortunately for Mayo, their forwards were absolutely useless and wasted most of that hard-won possesion. Martin Carney's miss from a 13-yard free straight in front of the posts was one of the lowlights. Gaillimh_Abu (Galway) - Posts: 1034 - 26/09/2009 23:00:48 437445 Link 0 |

Ulster had some great partnerships at Railway Cup level, any combination of Liam Austin, McAlarney, Eugene McKenna, Peter McGinnity. patrique (Antrim) - Posts: 13709 - 27/09/2009 14:45:36 437662 Link 0 |

TKC if memory serves me right Seanie Walsh only won one all ireland as a midfielder with Jacko' he played full forward and lost to Dublin 76 & 77 against Mullins & Brogan; was moved to full back once Bomber came on th scene; Mullins was a beast of a player with a superb footballing brain, comfortable on either foot; would loved to have seen him play alongside Jacko; hard to go past Jacko but I still believe Magilligan /Tohill pairing as the most consistent midfield pairing; Magilligandid all the donkey work which allowed Tohill a greater freedom to display his skills; 2 superb athletes; however my dad cited Mick O'Connell and Jim McKeever as the 2 finest midfielders he has ever seen play the catch and kick game KevHill (Antrim) - Posts: 271 - 27/09/2009 18:14:23 437776 Link 0 |

Seamus O'Hanlon and Gerry Curran (early 90s- Louth). Amongst the top 2-3 pairings in the country at the time. Real Louth fan (Louth) - Posts: 3157 - 27/09/2009 21:19:23 437985 Link 0 |
